----------
A lone figure stood on the cliffs. Her ebony hair with hints of brown floated in the air just above her shoulders as the gentle breeze brushed passed her. Flipping her hair flared hair, her auburn eyes scanned the peaceful scenery before her. A blanket of trees was behind her as she stood tall, with a sleeve-less top and a simple brown dress, on a slope of a cliff. Her eyes distant, as she watched stunning sky above her shine its last for the days end.
She...was me.
I closed my eyes as a memory flashed in my head.
I walked out of the double doors of my school nervously, preparing for the worst. Students gathered in little groups huddled in the sandy courtyard outside, bordered by grass, and then a wall. The groups included students from all grades, they chattered and laughed, but when I arrived, I had somehow caught the attention of a specific group of girls.
'My day had already gone bad...who knows what other bad luck might come my way? But then again, my life was never pleasant,' I thought gravely as I quickened my pace. Unfortunately, luck ditched me today. My name was called.
"Ikari Shizuka," a smug voice spoke behind me. Immediately recognizing the voice, I turned to face her. She was a blonde, always tried to look like Barbie; I've heard her clothes are specialized by the Barbie Company. Wearing a pink spaghetti strap with low cut blue jeans, her groupie of four, who also dressed the same, dragged me across the sand into a secluded side of the school.
"What do you want?" I glared at all of them.
"Hey girls," a sly smile on the leader made her followers smile, too, "don't you think these clothes are too...ugly for her?" The other three snickered with their leader. I looked down at my clothes. I was wearing black jeans with a white top that had small frills at the edges.
One of them pulled out scissors.
"So, are we cutting it up or what?" the one with scissors asked. The rest of the group pulled out their own scissors
"What are we waiting for girls?" Another commented.
It was cut.
They had cut up my clothes.
I didn't even do anything to them, and yet, they'd done it anyway.
I opened my eyes and grasped the scenery once again. How did that scene end? I walked out to the edge and looked at the setting of the sun.
Another memory flashed.
I was walking home down the usually busy street of 120th, but the unusual thing was...the street is practically empty. This time, I was wearing another set of clothes--an orange T-shirt with blue jeans of different shades. I hummed as I skipped down the road with a bag in my hand.
A girl was standing at the side of the road as I entered the residential area. Brown curly hair trailed down her shoulders, wearing jeans and a T-shirt, she leaned on the side of a wall.
As I walked past her, she stopped me.
"Shizuka.."
Somewhat surprised, I looked at the mystery girl. That was when I realized...she was my best friend, Sara. "Hi Sara," I greeted somewhat happily.
The next thing that happened took me by surprise.
A seizing pain landed on my cheek.
I quickly turned with my hand on my cheek and looked at Sara in shock. Why the hell did she slap me?
"Don't steal my guy, bitch," she hissed and glared at me, "You were my best friend...how could you do this to me!?" she accused.
"W-what?" I stared at her. Why was she saying all this? What...did I do?
"Don't lie," she accused again, "you know what you've done," she sneered.
I still don't know what I've done to her...what did I do?
I think...I think there was someone there...but who?
I touched my cheek. The seizing is gone, but it still hurts deep inside. Everything...everything is falling apart...
What is this...? Tears...they fell. The tears slowly roll down my cheeks, gaining speed as it slide. 'I don't want to remember this...don't...' I pleaded to my mind and held my head as if I was in pain. It didn't work. A memory once again.
Nudging the front door, I walked in and crept in the spookily dark room of the front entrance. The door creaked as I closed it, and when I turned, my mom stood in front of me and my way.
"You're late..." my mom spoke in an eerie voice that I never had learned to like.
"Teacher kept me after school," I lied while not looking at her.
"After school eh?" she flashed me a dark look, "Then how did you get those new clothes?"
I looked at her silently. I couldn't possibly say what had happened to my clothes.
"You..." she slowly treaded over and raised her voice, "you must've been out shopping with your friends without telling me eh!?"
Pa! The sound of a slap on my face.
"Are the clothes I bought for you not good enough!?" she continued, "We're already poor and you waste my money!?"
"I'm sorry..." I apologized, not really knowing what to say.
"Sorry is not good enough!" she yelled angrily, and suddenly in a quiet voice, she said, "Where did you put the clothes..." I decided in my better judgement to not say anything and give her the bag of torn up clothes.
"You bitch!" she swore, "The clothes I spent so much money on are cut!"
She ran for a nearby stick that was used to hang laundry.
Hit. The pain coursed throughout my body.
And another one.
"You...good for nothing daughter!" she growled as she whacked me. The pain worsened with every hit, until I could not bear it anymore. I let my tears fall.
"Stop it, Mother..." I pleaded.
She looked at me as if I was from another planet.
"Get out..." she pointed at the door, "Get out!!"
I wobbly stood up while in extreme pain and ran blindly outside.
I looked down...down at the forest below me. Everlasting green-ness. When will I ever see something so pure again? Maybe I never will.
Something's wrong. Something is missing. What is this thing that I've forgotten? "What...had happened after all those events?..."
I cowered in the bush, embarrassed yet frightened. My clothes barely cover me now--cut up in pieces. I hear my name out there, there where the cruel world is waiting to laugh at me once again. But no, this voice was different. A male voice...I recognized it.
"Shizuka!" he called. "Shizuka, come out..." he tried again.
For some weird reason, he had found my hiding spot. I grabbed the bushes and pressed its prickliness against my skin. I don't care who he is, he isn't allowed to see my body naked! But instead of a peeping tom I expected, he had held a jacket with one hand while he looked the other way, his natural brown hair with blond dyed on the ends of them fluttered in the wind, lightly slapping the white t-shirt he was wearing when I stuck my head out to check who he was.
I gratefully took the jacket and wrapped it around me as soon as possible--without anyone looking of course. I stood beside him with the overly large jacket snug around me. I didn't know what to say. What should I say though? ...except that I was extremely thankful.
"C'mon, let's go get you some decent clothes," he said and started walking. I stared at him, a little shocked since I was expecting questions, and I quickly followed.
Who was that guy? I know that I know him...
"I didn't do anything!" I told her again. I do not get deserved to get slapped by my best friend at all!
She glared at me. I'd never thought I would ever see my friend do something like that...it hurt me so much.
"She didn't backstab." The male voice comes again. He stood beside me. "She would never do something like that."
Sara looked at him in surprise and then glared at me with full force.
"She already did," she hissed with venom.
"It's none of your business as to who 'your guy' like," he defended.
The guy...he took me home...but he hurt Sara's feelings...
Walking down the street with the mysterious blond and brown hair guy, he said, "Don't listen to that girl...she isn't worth your time..." he looked out ahead of him as I watched him silently.
"You don't deserve that kind of treatment..."
I simply nodded.
I remember...
He waited outside...
I limped slightly as I opened the door and ran outside. Not noticing my surroundings, I hit something...or rather someone.
"Shizuka?" Oh, how lucky I was...and note the sarcasm. It was him again. He took my shoulders as I looked away.
"What happened?" He scanned me up and down and probably noticed my bruised skin.
"Di...Did your mom hit you again?" he asked, unsure.
"I.." I tried to make out words, but my world had faded into the dark.
I woke up that day on his couch, covered with a nice soft blanket.
Sadly, I still don't know who he is...
"Shizuka!!" I heard ruffling in the trees behind me, "What are you doing!?"
"Kira..." I whispered softly. I turned around.
Kira wore a baggy white t-shirt with jeans. His hair, the brown with blond ends, was messy. His brown eyes bored into mine, trying to understand what I'm doing.
It was him. My mysterious blond and brown hair guy.
It was him...the one who was always there for me...
He looked at me with a confused look, his eyes mixed with confusion, sadness, and something else I can't really interpret.
"I'll always remember you..Kira¡¨ I spoke softly, loud enough for him to hear, "I'm sorry..."
I let myself fall backwards, down the cliff. I closed my eyes willingly.
"Shizukaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!" I heard Kira scream out.
Air hugged me as it passed by, and slowly, but surely, the hugs became hard and fast. But it doesn¡¦t matter now.
Memories of him and I flashed before me like a bullet train. Him and I at school, him and I at the park, and just him and me...together...
Tears are now flowing freely. Am I regretting what I did?
I hope he'll forgive me..
It was then, that I hit something hard.
It's...all over now...
-------------------------------------------------
What is this feeling?
Soft fluffiness feeling had surrounded my whole. Soft winds flowed around me.
I feel...no pain...
I squinted as I attempted to open my eyes. Bright white light shone on my eyes.
I see...white feathers...
Wings......angel??
My eyes are closed.
Running out of the batch of trees, an ebony haired little girl emerged.
"Hehe, you can't catch me~" she taunted while looking behind her.
A little boy with brown hair came into view, but before that, the little girl tripped over a rock and fell off the unknown cliff.
Everything was in slow motion, a tiny scream erected from her mouth as she toppled over.
A miracle happened, when the little boy closed his eyes and wings spread out behind him. Setting into flight, he flew down and caught the little girl.
He brought her back up on safe land, and that was when she opened her sparkling brown eyes.
"A-angel..?" she murmured to herself
"Close your eyes," he commanded her, and she obeyed, being the innocent child she was.
A bright light surrounded the little girl, and as sudden as it had come, it disappeared.
Blink. Blink.
"Who are you?" she looked at the guy before him curiously.
"Just a friend..." he smiled kindly at her. She smiled brightly in return.
"Oh! Hi! My name's Shizuka! What's yours?" she said cheerfully.
"Kira."
"Kira..." The name rolled of my tongue as I opened my eyes.
He looked down at me while he held my in his arms, his wings flapping for flight.
"You...saved me again..." she said, a bit uncertain.
All he did in response was a simple smile. But that was all I needed.
That was when I realized...not everything is worth forgetting...
