A Childs Nightmare

She grew up by herself
Just her mother
Just her father
No siblings
Her mother was on the verge of death
Her father was a violent monster

He’d grab her mother and slam her to the wall
Sometimes he’d slap her
Yet he preferred punching
But, his ultimate favorite,
Was torture, and rape
Right in front of the little one

But what he did to that little one
Was almost as terrible
He’d slap her too,
And punched her
But instead of rape
He’d make HER do the deed for him

After a horrible life at school
Where girls gave her dirty looks
And boys made dirty gestures
And the hellish life at home
College sounds wonderful
But it’s just as bad a nightmare

So, life will go on
Sadly, painfully, and hurtfully
Until, she finds a man
A man who shows her love
And a good life
So, they wed

But, that only makes it worse
For he’s just as horrible as her father
Was to her mother
Life’s not worth living
But why die?
For no one would miss her

So, she lives on
Her pain continues
Her husband’s ruthless
Her present is flowered
With memories of the past
For her torment lives with her

Life doesn’t get better
Death is just as bad
For no one identified her body
They didn’t know her name
And they didn’t hold a funeral
Just dumped her in a trash compactor

Why didn’t she tell someone?
Why didn’t she come forward?
She did
But they all ignored her
For some reason or the next
They just didn’t care for a little girl’s nightmare
