Gazing Upon The Sapphire Sky

Sitting in the emerald grove,
I gaze upon the sapphire sky.
It is an enticing treasure trove,
full of passionate dreams of days gone by.
So many nights I looked upon your diamond-studded face;
I wished, I dreamed and sighed from many a place.

So many have pondered your mystery,
So many have lived and suffered in history.
You have held captive over all,
and have held the world in your thrall.

I think now of another place;
of another time when I beheld your sparkling face.
I knew not then what I know now,
though the bittersweet memory my soul does allow.
It once again pervades my senses,
It once again provokes a drop of defenses.

Night sky you always remind me,
of a love lost that will never again find me.
It was all an immense illusion;
a dream which with reality I attempted a fusion.

Beautiful starlit sky of sapphire,
long lost dreams once again transpire.
I think about he whom I once knew,
and wonder if he is thinking of me too.
But I know this small hope is all in vain,
for his icy distance from me will always remain.

Now my heart guards a new romantic dream;
while the north star listens and brightly gleams.
Sky of radiant wonder, sky of darkest night:
Will you grant my fervent wish tonight?
