Evolution.

for Souma

Coarse desires saturate my heart

Like alcoholic drink –

Internal organs already shriveled hollow;

Parched, selfish wants that cannot be fulfilled.

The silence wraps around my tongue, while

Watching myself disappear;

A body more able has upstaged mine, via

Darwin’s theory of natural selection.

Inadequacy’s a vitamin supplement:

It goes down easy if you keep it frequent; I’ll

Take my rejection like castor oil on a spoon...

The shell has cracked:

My extinction’s been presented

Somehow – strangely – I’ve fallen out of the plan...
