Believe

Bye: Jane Ann Mortkowitz

I don’t believe in Heaven, I don’t believe in Hell

I don’t believe in love or hate

Though I’m sure they’re fine and well

I don’t believe in danger

Whether far or near

And as for death? I laugh to it

For it can’t touch me here

I don’t believe in what I know, or what I’ve yet to find

I don’t believe the heart can heal with the simple flow of time

You call me a fool, you call me odd

You think you’re so special for believing in God

Textbooks are fiction, science proves naught

I don’t believe it when you tell me that Greenland is cold and Iceland is hot

I believe only in my self, not those surrounding me

I believe only once your blind, can you truly see

See the world for what it is, not the show it puts on

That is why I don’t believe—everything is wrong
