Al-Khaliq, The Creator

It begins with dawn, from the dawn of time
When the sun first casts its rays of light
And paints the earth fiery and golden
Dancing across the mountains bright

The sun steps high above misty clouds
And bakes the mossy paths of stone
That tumble down the mountainside
Meant for fox and deer alone

It will end with night, until the end of time
When the silver moon in the dark appears
And winds twist and curl, laughing at the stars
That are jewels, moon dust, and lunar tears

Somewhere to the North, the rainbow Aurora
Dances and shimmers as it's tossed across the stars
When full turns to crescent and the night is dark
The howl of the wolf can yet be heard from afar

Did the sun lift itself into the vastness of the sky?
Where did the birds learn their lilting tunes?
Who paved the mountain paths and stones?
And who painted silver the dazzling moon?

Allah is Al-Khaliq, the Creator, the Maker
He created the skies and molded the earth
He created the wind and the trees that it bends
He knows of every life, every death, every birth

He changes the seasons from fall to winter
From winter to spring to summer and fall
He changes the moon from full to gibbous
From gibbous to crescent, then naught at all

The crimson sunsets are his to transition
Day into night and blue into black
Peach-colored mornings greet our prayers
And after Fajr, we watch the sun come back

Allah is Al-Khaliq, the Creator, the Shaper
The earth and heavens and universe are his
They do not diminish him-he is eternally replenished
He has power to say merely be-and it is.
