Fly sits on my computer screen, Drawn to the light that it has seen, Light's the only reason it's sitting there, What site I'm on? It does not care.
It waves at me with wings of white, Too dumb to know feelings of fright, I wait content, it does not budge, I want to squish it, squash it, smudge.
I then decide I will be kind, Let this thing go for peace of mind, Plus if I squashed it, I'd have to clean, The bug guts off my computer screen.
I flick at it till it retreats, The saving of its life complete, I continued my fun-seeking work, But the fly continued to be a jerk.
It landed on my screen one more, The ending was clear, I do deplore, I grabbed an unlaced shoe with vain, And put an end to this bug's reign.
I tried to save him, I really tried, This bug committed pesticide, The man-bug-screen war may never end, But now I welcome all his friends, To try to avenge their buddy's pride, Cause now I have a swatter by my side.
