Never

Sometimes it hurts,
Seeing you, feeling you, kissing you,
And knowing you will never feel this way.
It's so hard to speak to you,
When there's just one thing I want you to say.
But I know you won't,
So please, baby, don't,
There's nothing you can change.

You're pure gold in my eyes,
While I'm not even worthy of bronze.
You're everything I could ever want,
And a reminder of everything I've never had.
You were the first person to ever smile at me,
The first to make me feel like I was worth anything at all.
Can you blame me for feeling like I do?
The only thing I could do was fall.

I'm a lovesick no one,
Who melts in the arms of perfection.
I could never expect you to feel the same.
When I never expected you to remember my name.
Time won't change a thing,
Don't pretend that it will.
I'm just happy being in your arms,
Feeling your lips against mine.

But it's hard sometimes,
Looking into your eyes while you're lookin' in mine.
I keep hoping for the impossible,
Though I know it can never be.
And even if I keep dreaming,
I won't ever start believing.
There's no way you could ever fall for me.

So just hold me in your arms,
Call me by my name.
And even though I love you so,
You won't ever feel the same.
