Beneath The Waves
~*~
My dear, flightless birds try to flap their wings
But they cannot lift themselves from the dusty floor
Running away from the pain, I find myself at the shore
I sigh and slip off my black mary janes
The morning sky colored waves splash at my feet
The soft winds drift through my hair
I wish I could live in this placid moment
But I know that I can't
I run into the welcoming ocean
The darkening sands are fading behind me
Water runs cold against my skin
I think of him for the last time
Why did I fall in love with him?
Why did I carry him with me for so long?
I knew all along he loathed me
But now I am finally letting go of him
By letting go of my broken self
Holding my last breath, I dive down into the water
I swim into the darkest depths of the sea
The deepening shadows lurk around me
I am dying; my chest is suffocating without air
Beneath the waves of my stained ocean
I finally found peace
