“Do you know that you are not allowed to be here?” I stood above a fallen vampire that I found in a territory that belonged to my mistress. I always did her dirty work, for many reasons them him creating what I am today. The vampire looked up at me with a certain fear hiding within his bones. I could see it, but I could not smell it. I could feel it and it excited me. I had my MKII sniper pistol held to his head and my foot on his chest.
“I’m allowed to go anywhere I want.” The vampire bravely said back to me. This made me grin evilly no vampire had ever said that to be before. I guess there is always a first to everything right?
“Such a young vampire, To bad you won’t be missed by anyone.” I fired two rounds into the vampire’s head exploding it onto the ground. There wasn’t a head any more just a pile of goop and meat. That’s all what vampire became after I caught them. It should shock me as scary or frighten me to the point where I could not do my job. But it didn’t, that’s how long I’ve been doing this, long enough so that the effects of this tragedy never even touched what soul was left in my body.
“Take this one away.” I said as I looked up to the other three vampires there that were to help me in my daily cleaning of my mistress’s city. The vampires looked at me, all so young, so vibrant of mortal life still in them. They would never understand what goes through my head for each killing that I do. You never think about the vampire being a mortal at one point in time, you can’t or it brings an entirely new factor of fright into your soul.
Why do I do this? It’s my life, my job, this is my soul purpose in life for all eternity is to protect my master’s lands. Even when I was alive I did this, I was a CIA agent for the United States government. I trained with all the elite counter-terrorism teams out there. You name it I’ve been there. But when I was changed, or I should more or less corrupted, yes corrupted is a better term for me. My duties were now to my mistress. I watched the vampire take the dead body away before I walked back to my car. My car was a brand new Ford GT, I always loved these cars, American Muscle. They chewed up gas like none other, but the raw power and the American dream was built into it.
I pulled out a cloth from my pant pocket and wiped off the gun barrel and my face. I hadn’t noticed that my face was covered in the vampire’s brains. It’s just something you never think about until you see it. My skin was pale white, like snow, like how a vampire’s skin would be over a period of time. My eyes were hidden by my sunglasses, even though it was dark outside I still wore my glasses. I did this for a very good reason, people don’t like to look at my eyes, they quiver in fear or don’t even look at me. People, people meaning mortals, don’t want to know that I exist. They rather not know. But why they fear my eyes is because they are nothing more then a solid sheet of Obsidian black. I have no pupils, no whites, no iris just black. Frightening if you ever saw them.
They used to be a very emerald green that was until my corruption. When my mistress corrupted me she forgot one detail, to kill me. She had given me her blood while I was not drain, while I was drunk, and all the while I had mortal blood flowing through me. I know she did it out of pure fun, nothing more then that. But what it did to me was turn me into a hybrid of a vampire and a mortal. My eyes are the signs of my corruptness and signs that I can never be human again.
I clicked my alarm button on my key chain before opening my door and getting in. My car interior was all leather, leather made driving just a bit more interesting then before. My dash board glittered with all the delights of modern technology had to offer. I had the money so I paid for the best equipment. Everything was custom made to fit my exact height of 6’3 and my exact weight of 178 pounds. I made sure that the back seats were taken out and left for trunk space. I needed room for the more high powered guns. I had the windows tinted for day time driving. Day time was the only time when I was free from my mistress. But I didn’t think I was ever that free because she has her human servant watch over me. I guess she didn’t trust me enough to let me completely free among her town.
I had one more assignment tonight, another vampire had come into this town, or so I was told. A vampire of respectable age of five hundred years old. Now that would mean this vampire could waste any normal being without even a look but then again I wasn’t any normal being was I? My cell phone rang at that moment which was probably one of my contacts throughout the city telling me that they spotted the vampire.
“Talk?” Very formal way of greet isn’t it?
“Hey Jack, we found him. He’s a lot older then what you told us. He’s at least 700 years old. He’s already killed off two of my spies. But his last known position was at the Blue Rue restaurant.”
That was Harry speaking, long time good friend of the CIA now working for me. He was turned into a vampire not to long ago and never looked back to his mortal life. The Blue Rue restaurant was my mistress’s favorite hang out. Which probably meant that this vampire wanted to directly challenge my mistress, which I could not allow. I turned my car’s engine on before shifting it into first and hit the gas petal. Immediately the car took off burning rubber as I made a quick U-turn in the middle of the street before shifting it into second.
“So where do you think he’s headed to?” I asked Harry.
“Probably the last spot the mistress was in which was the Galaxy Three Dance Club.”
Galaxy Three Dance club, who ever came up with these names. I don’t think I’d understand that, just like street names. Who comes up with those.
“Alright I’ll meet you there in five.” I hung up the phone without saying a good by. It was just how I did things. I didn’t drive with my head lights on, I could see perfectly well without them. That was one of the perks of being part vampire the night was a playground for those who could see. And I was the bully.
The Galaxy Three dance club was a small well known dance club for all vampires and mortals. Wanted to get High, you go there, wanted to have some sex, you go there, wanted a good all night long party, Galaxy Three was your ticket. I had only been there a few times to accompany my mistress I never really did like dance clubs, let alone being in crowed places. Made it to easy for someone to kill you, plus with my eyes being what they are, I attracted to much attention. I drove along Madison before taking a right on Hudson. I eventually ended up in front of the Galaxy Three dance club. This was the place, bright neon signs flashed outside the red carpet entrance. I got out of my car with my MKII inside my leather coat that I had on. I nodded to the valet person, who came over and took my keys.
“You dent, scratch, or even get dust on this car I’ll give you a one way trip to the maker.” I thinned my voice and my face as I could feel fear grip the young man. I tried not to be a bad guy but I also didn’t want my car coming back looking like it went through a war. The man just nodded before getting into my car and driving off. I then turned my head towards the bouncer and his guards who were holding back the crowd from getting in. I was lucky that my mistress was a regular visitor to this place and had special privileges to get into such a popular club. And if she got special privileges then I got special privileges. I walked up to the bouncer and showed him my I.D. He gave me that look that all bouncers have in common. Like they don’t entirely trust you and they don’t want you near them. I just gave my best I’m perfect look which produced a smile on his face. I was glad for that. He nodded and I went in. Easy as that.
--
The club smelt like most dance clubs around this city, sweaty, musty, and to much aftershave and perfume. Strobe lights flickered over the crowd in the middle of the club dancing there night away. To my right was the lounge and gaming Area. That was my favorite place to be, pool was my game along with darts. Surprisingly most of the fights occurred there, not because of me of course. To my left was the stairs that lead up to the private rooms where if you wanted to pay for the night you would not be bothered until morning. I scanned the room looking for any signs of my mistress or this 700 year old vampire. Just knowing that there was a 700 hundred year old vampire made me uneasy, knowing that this vampire was two hundred years older then my mistress made me worried more then I should be.
Vampires can detect those kinds of things, they know when you fear them and they know how to exploit that. The trick is never to give into a vampire, never let them know you fear them. Once you get past that step then everything else becomes easy.
I found my mistress, she was sitting at the far end of the bar. She was dressed in her finest, a long clinging dark green dress. She was a goddess in all ways, her body was perfect for a woman with the exact curves to knock a guy flat on his face, her skin snowy white and perfect. Her lips were covered in a lush red makeup to hide the bland red underneath which I’d only seen once in my life time. Her hair was black as midnight, she had it up in a bun tonight, probably to make sure that no kid would put gum in her hair.
I walked over to her, I could hear her talking to a mortal about how the president was a fool into thinking that war was the only solution. I put a hand on her shoulder and looked at her, She looked at me with a smile upon her face. I took it was that she didn’t want to talk to this mortal any more. I could understand, he wasn’t handsome, nor very bright.
“Jack.” Her voice danced like pleasuring liquid over my skin. Over the years I had manage to concentrate enough to not fall under her spell but even now it was still hard to do.
“My mistress, I came by to tell you that we must leave now.”
“Why?” she asked. I could see in her eyes that she was not all to happy about me ordering her like that but what could I do? I did not want her in danger. I leaned to her ear and told her about the 700 year old vampire being in this club some where. She just nodded before standing up and letting me guide the way towards the door. My cell phone rang and I picked it up.
“Talk.”
“Jack it’s me, I got a limo ready to go.” It was Harry, he knew the plan already, in and out without any disturbances.
“Good I’m coming out right now.” I hung up and finished walking my mistress out of the club into the night air. I could feel her body’s natural reaction to shiver. I took off my coat like any gentleman would do for a young and beautiful lady, and wrapped it around her. She gave me the slightest of nods before walking to the limo. Harry stood just outside the passenger door and opened it for our mistress. She got in without a word to both of us. Harry closed to the door just as she got in before looking at me.
He was a man slightly small then I was, with dark brown hair and Spanish brown eyes. He worn an Italian business suit to match his pale skin. He was no more then a year old which surprised me that he adapted to being a vampire so well.
“Get her home safely.”
“I will Jack I know because if I don’t you’ll have my head.” Harry said which made me smile. To know that you had that much power over people it scared you and at the same gave you a feeling that you were on top of the world.
“Your dam right, now get going before this vampire shows himself.” I gave my best smile to Harry who just nodded and walked to the driver’s seat of the limo before taking off down Hudson and to our mistress’s palace.
“Alright vampire…” I murmured to myself as I turned back around into the club passing all of the people who waited to get a chance to be in the club. Again my eyes scanned the ground for any sign of the vampire. Nothing still, maybe he was hiding from me, or maybe he was just having a fun time and would leave by tomorrow evening. I was going to accept the first option before the second.
I was wrong on both options, out of the corner of my eye I could see a young male vampire about the age of seventeen leaning against the wall with his eye directed at me. I could feel the weight of his gaze he was laughing in his head. Probably laughing at me because he didn’t think I couldn’t stand a chance against him. I probably didn’t, but I would fight until I died to save my mistress.
“So your Jack Murk?” I could hear him say without even moving his lips. Most mortals wouldn’t have even picked up his words it was far to loud in the club to hear correctly. I didn’t turn to look at him, I didn’t need to, it wasn’t out of disrespect it was just because looking at him gave him the attention that he needs.
“Yeh.”
“Famous protector of Lily Mora?” I could hear his voice become very serious. “You killed my brother.”
Dam, now there was going to be a fight. When you kill off a family member fights are bound to occur.
“I’ve killed so many people your brother is just another number to me.” Yeh that pissed him off. His energy rippled through the club making everyone stop dancing to turn and look at him. Great now we had a show.
“How dare you insult my family. The great Midnight family has lived for eons before you were even a concept of someone’s imagination.” The young vampire said as he started walking over to me.
Now I’ve heard some pretty lame insults, but that was pretty bad. I don’t put any thought into my family, once I became a CIA agent family meant nothing to me any more. I turned around to face the vampire face to face, his eyes were a midnight blue and his skin like all the rest of the vampires that I’d had known. Pearl white with no sign of age or lacerations. His anger fed his energy as it flowed down over my body like a thousand prickling needles trying to draw blood.
“How do you want to end this fight? Want me to blow your head apart or do you want me to shoot your knee caps?” I smirked, I know he didn’t like that because in an instant he smashed his fist against my face. And at that instant I could feel my cheek bones bruise up along with my ego. I moved only to reach my gun from my inner custom made holster which I aimed directly at his knee cap and shot one shot. Instantly he fell to the ground in a scream of pain. I backed away and used all my force to kick him directly in the jaw. I could hear his jaw bones crack and break under the force. He rolled onto his back as he looked up at me. His mouth bled like a fountain while his knee cap was no longer existent just a tendon that held his leg together.
He withered in pain, the club was non-existent to me all that mattered was the vampire on the ground and my gun in my hand.
“Now you shall die, Mr. Midnight.” I held my gun point at the bridge of his nose.
“You are good Jack but you do forget that I am 700 years old.” He said to me and did not give me any time to think as I found my feet had been lifted off the floor and now I was on the ground in pain while he stood up over me. His knee was all healed from what I could see. He surprised me he wasn’t a push over which I liked. I looked around to see that he had taken in MKII gun from me, now that pissed me off. My favorite weapon and now it was his. That just didn’t settle right.
“You should join me I could use a warrior like you to protect my lands.” He said, I didn’t respond. I was concentrating on a plan to get out of this fight. I had my other gun which was a desert eagle. This was my back up weapon since it was so heavy and so powerful it was like trying to fire a cannon off without just one hand. But could I hit him without hitting anyone else and sending myself into trouble with my mistress. I could, and I did as he quickly took out my desert eagle and fired to shots into his stomach, he fire one shot and I could hear a click. No more rounds for him, brownie points for me. But his bullet pierced my chest and right to my heart which jerked my body against the ground. I knew that he had hit me in the right place because I couldn’t feel my body any more. I looked at him, he looked dazed and confused as I noticed that his heart didn’t exist, I blew it clear out of his body. That made me happy, as long as he wasn’t going to survive I did my job.
