It was at night and very dark with only the moon giving off light. My
friends and I were in a hilly place and were walking along a path. There
were a small patch of woods a little a head of us and to the right and we
the path we were walking along was dirt in grass. There were other paths
leading to other places but they always lead back to the path we were on. I
thought it would be funny to go on the path to the small patch of woods and
jump out to scare my friends.
They ran ahead some and I went on the other path. Just as I got to the
small patch of woods everything went silent. I couldn't hear my friends
laughing and talking. I could no longer hear the crickets or even the wind
blowing. It got cold all of the sudden and I looked down at my clothes only
to see they weren't mine anymore. I was now wearing a long red dress and
the bottom went into small points with little bells on them. The straps to
the dress were thin like wire and were gold to match the tiny bells. My
hair was let loose and cascaded to my waist. I suddenly looked and felt
taller.
Wondering what was happening, I looked around me and saw a figure
advancing on me. The figure walked slowly yet fast at the same time. When
it got close enough for me to see I noticed he was wearing a black robe
with a hood that covered his face. He was carrying a Grim Reaper staff that
glinted in the moonlight. At first I thought he was some guy dressed up as
Death but as soon as he got within a few inches of me I noticed the staff
was as real as the cold draft coming from him.
Staring was all I could do. I was practically frozen to the spot with
wonder and fear. Death leaned his staff against a huge boulder that
appeared out of nowhere and bowed to me. Then he reached out his hand for
mine. Not knowing what else to do, I took it. Soft, sad, and dark music
started playing and I frantically looked around to see where it came from.
It seemed like the trees made the music. I looked back at Death and noticed
he still had his hood on. When I reached to pull it back he grabbed my hand
and we started to dance.
The music reminded me of sadness mostly. It was so slow and
melancholy. Soon I got the hang of dancing and I wrapped my arms around his
neck and his went around my waist as we descended into the air. Yes, we
were dancing in the air. The bells on the bottom of my dress tinkled every
time we spun around and I no longer felt the coldness that came from him.
When the song was over we floated back to the ground and I looked into his
hood. All I could see was black but I could feel what he was feeling and it
was love. Slowly, like all his movements, he kissed me. It was a kiss like
no other. When his lips met mine it felt as if the world were ending. I
wanted more and deepened the kiss but he pulled back gently and put a
finger on my now bruised lips.
"I will come back for you." He said and vanished.
The next thing I remembered was my friends yelling my name and nudging
me. I awoke and they told me I just passed out while walking. They said I
had been out for at least twenty minutes. I looked down at my clothes and
saw they weren't the beautiful red dress I had on with him and sighed.
"It must have been a dream." I whispered.
