A dull ache in my left wrist
A throbbing pain that shoots through my skull
A lurking fear of the dark
And a blatant terror of what may be hiding in the shadows.
I'm slowly overheating,
But I'm too scared to abandon my covers.

I wrote this the night of 4/27/03. It was during a nighttime storm that caused a power outage. I live in north-central Texas, and it was hot during that storm--we're talking 90+ temperatures during the night. It was unpleasantly stuffy, but I thought I saw someone enter my room and I was too scared to check it out. I'd rarely been happier to see morning come.
