Prologue

The year is 2022, and mankind has excelled in the technological world. While no such things as hovercrafts or cities in Mars had yet to be established, many things of the past had been upgraded and changed. Superficially, the world remained the same as it did many years ago. But life continued to thrive as it always did, and the world of technology was at its prime.

One such advanced electronic currently popular among the world of youth and adults alike was the BL and roleplaying game, Yaoi Doki Game. Created by a Japanese woman, Meiami Hisuu, it is a game unlike any other created before. The first of its kind, specifically. Like BL and RPG games, it involved many different scenarios, events, outcomes and situations the players could work with. However, the characters they played were more than just pixels. They were exact virtual replicates of human kind, in a digital world inside the game that mimicked the world outside. Humans and their characters could interact, speak to one another and even make decisions together.

Each character has a personality, and a certain Phase; the higher the phase, the harder the character is to operate. So far there are 6 total Phases; the higher one goes, the higher the challenge. While the characters may be lively, active, and much like an independent person for many, it is the gamer who controls where the character goes, who the character sees and what the character does. Gamers are expected to help their characters find work, romance and all the necessities to life and thensome. To help, each character is given a specific Talent to work with.

Meiami classified her creations into five basic groups: Seme, Uke, Seuke, Ukeme and Uber-uke. For categorizing purpose, she gave each of them qualities fitting of their stereotype, but also individual personalities. It is stated Meiami worked specifically on each character to give them their own attitude and personality instead of duplicating each. The Seuke group consists of males who appear as seme, but are often bottom. It works vise versa for Ukeme.

There is a special brand of YDG, known as Soulmate versions. It contains two games and two characters, each installed and attracted to their counterpart. Usually Soulmate versions are sold seperately, and gamers are to help find their character's other half. No one class is decided; one group can both be Seme, while another can be a mix. Switches are encouraged, but not mandatory, for extra interaction.

Gamers can allow their characters to roam freely in the YDG world, but can also put up walls, which restrict the character from going to certain places, and also stop and start the actions of the digital beings which are almost exact carbon copies of humanity, physically, mentally and emotionally. The characters were built like humans, and are just as detailed as such; they are not just mindless digital drones, but digital humans. They will run into chaos and they will run into adventure, but they need the players help getting in and out of it.

When the game is shut off, the character inside will go into Rest mode and will essentially be shut off as well, from everything and everyone. However, the game may also be put in a Limbo mode: allowing the game to shut off, but the character to be active inside their given territories. The characters will get sick and weak if their battery is too low and need charging.

Games can be hooked up, allowing each character of said hooked up games to interact and leap from one game to the other. When two or more games are put together, these characters are given access to one another. However, unhooked, there is no chance they can meet together, unless their gamers are to situate them at a certain place in the YDG world where they can meet, just like in an RPG. The other possible way for a character to meet others is to let them roam in an area where other characters have gained access.

The world inside YDG is an exact copy of the world outside, divided into Sectors. Such as the America Sector, which serves as the digital world's version of America. Each duplicate city of a real one has a V for Virtual attach, ala V-Tokyo.

Beyond the men, the world is also home to Sprites, people who keep order in the world, and also do the menial tasks and jobs the game characters wouldn't or couldn't. Sprites are also very powerful, and most are women. They often control most of the action therein and society, including business matters and environmental issues.

Besides keeping order and working to make the YDG world safe, Sprites also organize events that get not only the people of the digital world to interact, but also the gamers. Such events are large karaoke competitions, parades, and other things as such.

Yume Hateshinai is a young seventeen year old girl who, with a stroke of luck, comes to own an Uber-uke she names Yuki Kireina. Her friend, a feisty young girl named Sakura Chou, ends up having her seme Akane couple up with Yume's Yuki. And almost too quickly, the two fall madly in love.

Later on, the two girls meet a frail, delicate girl named Nyoko Ishi, owner of Kiyoshi, a seuke who becomes friends with Akane, Yuki, and Kihana, the owner of the flower shop/bakery Akane and Yuki work at. Yume and Sakura discuss with Nyoko how they want to start a band, using Yuki's voice (his Talent), Akane's keyboard Talent and Kiyoshi's guitar. Nyoko is quick to agree.

Not too long down the road we're introduced to a nervous but outgoing girl named Seichii Tokeau, who ends up being an insecure boy named Seichii Tokeau! He owns a seuke named Gin, who later is to join Yuki's band as the drummer and new friend.

At a large karaoke competition, Yuki wins first place and catches the eye of an uke named Aoi, producer and manager under the Sprite Mochi Shabu's music company, Vast Productions. Rois, who is Seichii's friend, turns out to be Aoi's owner and propositions Yume and the others that Aoi will be their manager/producer and Mochi Shabu will gladly put them under her record label. Etsushi, her light hearted friend, joins in with Midi, who has agreed to do the costume and make-up for the band.

Others were met down the road, though not all relevant to the game.

A few pests, including Shiro's overdramatic homophobic brother, his arm monkey and Sakura's other brother Midori and the big breasted. Some close friends, such as Sakura's other brother Mizuiro and his secret lover, stoic head of the soccer team, Kazuo Daiki; Miki, a long time crush and good friend of Yume; Misato, the loud mouth, energetic star soccer player from Osaka who is the obsession of Sakura and Saitou, a calm, aloof artist who becomes the love interest of Seichii. Some also mysterious with past's unknown, like the boy named Michi who stalks Seichii and seems to have had something to do with him in his past.

And then there are enemies and rivals. Keiko and Leiko Masahiro, the two sadistic, mysterious twin sisters who rule the school with an iron fist. Sasha Li, a girl yearning to be on the basketball team who joins in with the twin's gang to achieve that goal. Takara Susumu, a seemingly quiet, shy young girl with a demonic smile and a knack for cracking into electronic systems. And Yuriko Kigaru, the egocentric, big breasted school president and her quiet little slave boy, Koru Hachiwa.

All together, these girls each own an uke or seme. Yukio, Keiko's the deviant sadist, Suki, Leiko's introverted, solitary a younger brother of Yukio, Hoshiko, Yuriko's two faced manipulator, Toyo's vertically challenged Toyo with a fiesty temperament and Akira, Sasha's seme who prefers to be left alone in silence. Each of these YDGs make up Yuki's band, Deranged Rhthym's rival band, Blood Lust under Selene Records. Yukio the singer, Suki the keyboardist, Toyo the drummer, Hoshiko the guitarist and Akira the manager and producer, governed over by Mochi Shabu's older sister, Selene.

The following book covers the beginning of both bands, chronicaling their big tour together and the people they meet, the relationships they make and the changes they all go through. This includes the players, Yume and her friends, Keiko, Leiko and their teammates. People change as so does relationships; some will form, some may break, and new people will come and go.

It is through this book that Yume and the others all discover that the world of Yaoi Doki Game is much more intricate and complicated than they could ever have imagined.
