I see it
black and white
in a memory
playing back to me
where we could be
together

porcelain brown eyes
staring
down at me
lifeless
but hands swirling
and dancing
to love

vanilla I smell
so warm
on your skin
the smoke of comfort
rising
from where you sit
encircles me
in safety

no longer can it
shelter
the shards of
this mangled tapestry

now nothing moves
and the joints cease
their creaking
only a hollow filled
with time
emptier than human eyes
can see
