Author’s Note: Just saw De-Lovely, an excellent, inspiring and sad film. This song was thought up due to a heartfelt tune near the end: “Love for Sale,” one that the infamous Cole Porter wrote himself. ^^ I know it’s strange not to have the chorus after the bridge in the middle and instead have it in the beginning and end only, but that’s how I work! Strangely. And in mysterious ways. ^^

While I’m Dancing Here With You

(Chorus)
I was a fool to believe you
I was a fool to love you
But now it just doesn’t matter
Not while I’m dancing here with you

(Verse 1)
You thought you led me astray
Wrapped around your finger
With all the games that you play
Did you think I would linger?
I realize that I’ve been blind
But not half as blind as you
And through my misery I’ve been so kind
Why can’t you be kind too?

(Bridge)
I was a girl too scared to see
How your cold charm would enrapture me
But now everything’s past us
And we meet here tonight
Just ’cause love couldn’t last us
Doesn’t mean we lost our fight

(Verse 2)
Kiss me again and embrace me
Make me remember those days
Hold me until I beg to flee
Then come back and set me ablaze
Those times are always haunting me
Though I’ve tried to contain them
And all these feelings you shouldn’t see
I have wished to condemn

I was a fool to believe you
I was a fool to love you
But now it just doesn’t matter
Not while I’m dancing here with you
