Blue: Did you all miss me? Well I’m back, and with the first chapter of Black Destiny: Dark Wars. This is part two of my Black Destiny series, which is fantasy genre, but also manga themed. Please if you haven’t already, read the first story Black Destiny: Dark Hour or else you will become horribly lost in upcoming chapters. Like Dark Hour, this story was up on Fictionpress before, but since then my skills have dramatically changed so I chose to revise the whole Black Destiny series. Now sit back, and enjoy the story.
*~*~*
The winds blew softly as a month long blizzard was slowly dying out with each passing second, bringing an end to the wintery hell that had spanned over six months for the world of Terra. Almost every area was covered in thick snow; even the deep Lankan Plains were submerged in cold frost. Cities were crippled by the severe cold and the heavy snows, cutting off contact between various regions. Few people dared to leave far, for fear of either death from the cold or by an attack from the Dorajin forces.
‘When Crow died…all hell broke loose…’ thought a young woman, wrapped in a brown cloak that covered nearly all but her head, allowing her violet hair which was tied back into a high ponytail to whip around with the wind.
Her eyes, an electric shade of magenta were squinted from the wind as well as she trudged through the snow in a weary manner. Shell Syncron, one of the five warriors that witnessed the event now referred to as the Dawning of the Hour had been fighting endless battles ever since. Alone and tired, she had transformed over the months from killing so many. Once kind hearted and friendly to many, Shell had started to become uncaring about most things, her only concern being how much longer she could battle. Knowing that she was becoming numb from the fighting, she decided to break away and seek refuge for a while, crossing the Karajak Plains, which separated the large city of Talam and the Aisu Cavern, a dungeon that was flooded with water. Once past the Cavern, she would travel to the Great Library, where hopefully the great Magician Zenith Tsuki would greet her, or at least Robyn Ravenwing, a younger woman who had grown to be a sister of sorts to Shell. It was this goal, that gave the Thunderess as she was also known and her tired body motivation to keep moving.
“There she is!” a voice roared from behind, catching her attention.
Shell turned around, spotting what appeared to be nearly a dozen large figures in the distance that were advancing towards her. Upon spotter her reaction, the beings charged at her with spears and swords in hand. A hand in a fingerless blue glove rose out from the Thunderess’ cloak and grabbed the edge of it, gripping tightly. In one powerful motion, Shell ripped the cloak off and hurled it into the air, revealing her voluptuous body dressed in black spandex that was durable yet allowed her to move freely. Along with the spandex, Shell wore violet metal armour that had a jewel placed in the center of her chest and covered her entire upper body, leaving only her abdomen uncovered. Her shoulders were also covered with violet metal pads that were trimmed with gold along the edges and had a red cape mounted on as well. Her arms, also covered in black spandex had gold, metal elbow pads equipped while her knee padded legs had only a pair of blue shin guards and yellow boots equipped. Strapped onto her belt along her waist and onto her thighs were holsters that held two 9mm pistols, with a small pack that contained several strapped along the back of her hip.
“You want me…come and get me,” she said, spreading her feet apart as they drew close.
Shell’s hands went to her hips as she made out her attackers, a group of Dorajin warriors, part of the Dorajin Army led by Dragonia, the Dark God of Destruction. The Dorajin were a race of dragon spawn in a sense. Larger than a Terrajin with an average height of six or seven feet and a larger build of muscle, they had many distinguishing features as well. Such characteristics consisted of pointed ears, sharp teeth, slit like pupils, amber eyes, spiny hair and scaly skin of either brown or olive colours depending on gender. The skin of a Dorajin was thick as well, allowing them to take many blows before they could feel anything, which allowed them to get away with wearing only very thin armour such as leather tunics that served as decoration.
“Right wing, attack in pairs! Left Wing, attack individually!” the lead, an even larger Dorajin of ten feet with maroon scales shouted, “The rest of you, stay back and wait for my command!”
‘Dranch…’ Shell thought bitterly as she started to walk backwards while two pairs of Dorajin closed in on her.
They leapt to the air with long swords in hand and valiant battle cries echoing through the winter air as the thunderess simply whipped up her pistols and fired off several shots to their heads, killing them all on the spot. Shell snorted as the lifeless bodies struck the ground and four more Dorajin with spears and metal shields charged at her. Like before, she began to fire off multiple rounds from her pistols that bounced off the shields with loud bangs, as she predicted.
“Don’t you ever give up!” She shouted while pocketing her guns and throwing up her fists.
“The concept is foreign to us Dorajin!” the leader replied sharply, “What do you think we are, Terrajin?”
The thunderess growled as she sidestepped a spear thrust, grabbed the weapon with a hand, pulled it in and threw her other elbow at her attacker’s face, causing it to drop the spear while holding its face in pain. Shell charged in and drove the back end of the spear shaft into the enemy’s belly, causing it to double over from a loss of breath. The thunderess quickly finished off the fight by grabbing the Dorajin’s neck and twisting it quick enough to snap it, causing the foe to fall to the ground. Shell wielded the spear around as another Dorajin swung in with its own pole arm, an attack that was blocked by a counter swing. The thunderess quickly lunged in and gored her spear through the enemy with a killing blow before ripping it out and swinging it around in a full circle, parrying off the last two Dorajin attacks. She quickly jumped back as her attackers swung and stabbed at her with fast strikes before landing a few feet away and whipping out her guns. Shell fired once more and her onslaught was shielded, but she did not care. The thunderess used this moment to run in for an attack of her own, knocking their shields up with mighty kicks and punches before throwing a few moves of her own. The two Dorajin were slow to respond, and paid for it by taking powerful blows to the heads, bodies and knees that nearly crippled them.
“Let’s see you block this!” the thunderess shouted as she whipped up her pistols and shot at their heads, reducing the number of attackers to four.
“Attack as a group!” Dranch roared as his party of four leapt off in different directions and shot across the snows with the speed of a gale.
“What in the name of the Lords…” Shell muttered as she was circled.
“Just trying something new, that’s all,” Dranch replied as he and his soldiers each took in a deep breath, causing Shell to widen her eyes.
All at once the Dorajin threw their heads forward and roared, unleashing massive blasts of flame from their throats at her. The thunderess ran out of the center and pointed her guns at one of her attackers, which resulted in her target shifting his aim so he could strike her down. Shell jumped out as fires trailed her, following her moments with perfection before dying out.
“Fall!” Dranch shouted as he and the others leapt in with her off guard and attacked with ferocious strikes.
Shell sidestepped, ducked and jumped around as punches and kicks flew all around her, some of them nearly hitting her. There was no end to assaults as the thunderess continued to evade one attack after another, her breaths becoming quicker with each passing second. Dranch smiled as he took in another breath much to her dismay and unleashed another blast of fire, causing her to jump away and into a clubbing blow to the back by one of the soldiers. The thunderess yelled in pain as another attack struck her to the side, where another Dorajin struck. Shell was smacked around for nearly a moment when her temper flared and she began to fight back with powerful counter blows, bashing her enemies away as she regained some strength from her second wind.
“You are truly incredible Thunderess,” Dranch said as he broke away from the fighting, “You still manage to fight even after all this.”
“That’s because…I won’t…let you win,” the thunderess said as she sidestepped an attack and struck her foe with a jaw-breaking uppercut.
“Whatever keeps you going,” he said while she managed to beat one of his soldiers to death, leaving only two left, “However futile it is.”
Shell grabbed a fist and snapped it down, nearly ripping her attacker’s hand off before she grabbed his arm and hurled him over herself, throwing him into the other.
“I’ll show you futile!” she shouted before clapping her hands together, causing an explosion of electricity from the impact, “Flash Thunder!”
Shell snapped her hands back, causing an intense flare of lightning to surge around her body as she narrowed her eyes and threw her arms forward, unleashing two powerful bolts of electricity at the fallen Dorajin. Dranch growled as his remaining men were struck by the lightning and electrocuted to death on the spot before the electricity triggered an explosion.
“Perhaps you’re correct,” he said as snow and smoke filled the air, “But there is only so much that can be done.”
The thunderess fell to her knee, panting as she looked up at him.
‘He’s right, I put everything I had into that magic spell,’ she thought as sweat rolled down her face, ‘I’ve got nothing left.’
Dranch laughed as he cracked his knuckles.
“And done you shall be,” he said, taking in another breath.
He threw his head forward as a bullet struck his shoulder, cutting off Dranch’s attack as he roared in pain and backed away.
“Foolish Terrajin! I was going to give you the luxury of killing you quickly!” he shouted as a pair of leathery erupted from his back, “But now I’ll let you die in the cold!”
He leapt into the air and flapped his wings before flying off with great speed. Shell, on one knee smiled as the gun fell from her hand and she plopped down onto the snow.
“Hah, I’d rather die like this, knowing I went down from fighting to the bitter end,” she said with a smile as the winds had died, “Now I’ll be able to see Crow again.”
Shell’s world became black as she slipped into unconsciousness, waiting death on the snowfields.
