Disfunctional poem 1:"asking"

by Sara/Shrinkwrap

questions.
they are asked from the back of my mind
with scratchy static voices.
they make me worry about the future.

"what if you fail high school?"
my parents will yell. i won't get to
go to japan. i'll be doomed to working
a fast food joint.

"what if you get beat up because of all the rumors
that are doomed to be spread about you?"
i've dealt with that before, but hopefully
i'll have some place to run.

"what if bush gets reelected?"
we'll continue to suffer... and the
constitution could be rewritten to limit
rights under his control... but if so,
he's done in another four years.

"what if you fall out of love?"

"what if you fall out of love?"
i'm not sure.
