NOTES: Almost everything in this story comes from me, including the somewhat horrible names of people, places, and things.
Omni Mage
Prologue
1000 years ago, a powerful and mighty being rose from the earth amidst a time of war, struggle, and demons. This being was said to have gotten its powers from God himself. The being controlled seven elements that composed all of the earth, and used them to protect the people.
However, the task of the earth keeper was too great for one being alone, so the being bestowed upon seven people the seven elements, one to each, and nothing more. Each of these mages controlled his or her part of the earth, and was responsible for maintaining order throughout the land. The seven elements: light, darkness, life, water, earth, fire, and wind are all controlled by the mages to be used to how they see fit. The one being however, labeled the Omni Mage, kept its powers and was able to oversee the reconstruction of peace, as was the will of god.
However, the race of warlocks and demons became increasingly power hungry and merciless. Eventually, one rose above the others, and led the hellish beings of the world against the Omni Mage and its followers. The head warlock, Venescas overpowered the Omni Mage and the seven mages by absorbing the power of the seven mages one by one. The Omni Mage, sensing that the planet was in danger, removed the powers that God had bestowed, and took the lives of the seven mages, so that Venescas could not absorb the powers of the remaining mages. The planet fell into a blanket of darkness.
In death, the Omni Mage proposed to God that something must be done about this act of treachery. God agreed, and placed a curse upon Venescas declaring that his life will be cut short to only 130 years instead of full immortality. Furthermore, his line will grow weaker and weaker until the last member will turn to dust. God then declared that a millennium shall pass before the mages rise again, and fulfill their rightful duties as protectors of the planet.
However, this did not stop Venescas from using his power to seemingly no limit, submitting everyone to his will by his sheer power. He vows that his line will eventually find the mages and absorb their power to achieve full immortality. And so to this day his line continues to keep the planet in endless darkness. But after 1000 years, the darkness seems to grow weaker. This is where our story begins.
"Kasara! Kasara, wake up!"
Kasara Oni, an eight year old girl with medium long brown hair and deep blue eyes with a gentle figure woke in what she could only describe as the worst nightmare in her life. Her vision was blurry for a moment; however she was slowly coming to.
Her brother Kasaru, 9 years old, was almost an identical twin to Kasara. He had hazel eyes and short hair however.
Kasara saw Kasaru was being held by two black, scary demons that were hunched over and were only identifiable by their red headbands and their skull-like face. The only thing that emitted more darkness from the demons was from the black caped, towering figure that sat at the top of the black throne room only lit by torches and a giant oval window that let in a moonless night.
"You, girl!" boomed the towering man as he stood.
Kasara shakily stood up, and wondered aloud "Who, me?"
"What do you know about the Omni Mage?" boomed the voice again.
"T-t-the what? I don't know." she stuttered.
Kasaru yelled at her "Kasara, don't tell them anything!"
"SILENCE!!!" the voice rang throughout the throne room. "One of you will talk one way or another! Your family line is the only one who knows anything about the Omni Mage. Seeing as how you are the only two of your family line, I hope this will be a pleasant conversation."
"What's he talking about?" whispered Kasara to Kasaru.
Kasaru shook his head sadly, and said "Mom and dad are dead. They were killed by that man up there." And he motioned to the towering man on the throne.
"No! Our mom and dad are dead? No!" she sobbed.
The towering man stood up, and said "Well now, if neither of you will talk of your own free will, then I will have to use my, special, methods to make one of you talk."
And then he rose a hand, and a steel slab 6 x 6 x 2 rose from the ground, and moved so that it hovered over Kasaru.
"NO! What are you doing?!" screamed Kasara
"Chain him down!" said the robed man.
Kasaru shouted "Kasara, Kasara!"
Kasara lifted her head to look at her brother who was being chained so that he is facedown on the ground.
"Whatever happens, do not speak. Do not spill the secrets of our family." said Kasaru, willing his sister to be strong.
"Kasaru," sobbed Kasara.
"One of you will submit and tell me the secret of the Omni Mage!" yelled the towering figure once again.
A second, shorter robed figure who donned a black mask which covered his entire face walked next to the towering figure, and said "Lord Vanten, are you sure this is necessary to interrogate a couple of children?"
Vanten said "There will be no second thoughts about this matter Anset. Either pain or guilt will make one of these children talk. If one dies, well then we have one less problem to worry about."
Kasara looked at a necklace hanging from her neck. She almost forgot about it. It was a wooden circular pendant which had an unusual symbol: a seven pointed star.
"Never take it off" she remembered her parents saying to her, "for it is a symbol of who you are."
She squeezed it for comfort, although she was scared more than any other time she was scared.
Vanten informed the two "This steel slab weighs about 2500 pounds. Until one of you talks, I will slowly crush the bones of this little boy here." and he motioned to Kasaru and the slab which was hovering an inch above his body.
"Of course, I will give you both one chance to avoid this unpleasant form of interrogation."
Kasara whimpered "No,"
"Kasara!" said Kasaru.
Kasara looked at her brother, and he shook his head. He wanted her to stay silent.
"Fine then! If you talk, it will either be through a broken heart or a crushed body!" boomed Vanten as he slowly lowered his hand.
The slab followed his motions, and Kasaru felt the weight of the steel block.
He started screaming. "AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"
"KASARU!!!!" shrieked Kasara.
Vanten said with anticipation "Yes, will you speak now that you hear the shrieks and cries of your brother? Or will you perhaps speak to end this pain?"
"Stop it please! KASARU!"
"Will you talk?!?!?" yelled Vanten
"Kasara, please stay silent!" gasped Kasaru.
"No, brother please! Kasaru!" cried Kasara.
Vanten finally shouted "Fine, if you won't talk,"
And he put his hand back inside his robes.
There was a thunderous crack as the child's bones gave way to the giant slab.
Kasaru Oni has died.
"No. Brother? Please wake up! Kasaru. Kasaru! KASARU!" cried Kasara hoping beyond hope that her brother might still be alive.
Anset said to Vanten "My lord, what shall we do about the girl?"
Vanten scoffed and said "It seems as if she really doesn't know anything. But still, I think she's hiding something. Keep her in the coal mines."
"Kasaru." sobbed Kasara. She turned to Vanten and with a rage of fury, she ran to the monster that killed her brother and family.
With a battle cry, she jumped to aim a punch to his stomach.
And she was frozen in mid-air.
"Fool." Vanten uttered before sending her into the wall. She knew no more.
Over 1000 miles away,
A little boy ran outside. He looked about ten, yet he had an obsession with fighting. He carried a wooden sword, and was practicing moves with it. He was not too short, had short black hair, and piercing brown eyes. He had a dark blue robe and he moved like a real fighter.
He suddenly looked to the sky. His ears perked up, and he said "Another soul has been murdered by my enemy.
He then went inside his house, and prayed for the soul that was vanquished by Vanten.
After praying, he looked to his family heirloom on the wall: A ball of jade with the seven pointed star on it, and said "Father, I promise I will fulfill the family mission.
And thus the story begins. I can't believe I started it out by killing off a nine year old boy.
By the way, at the beginning of each chapter, I will give a short review of the previous chapter, you know, so you won't get confused. And this space is where I answer questions (most of them) and thank reviewers. I hope you will review for this story!
Peace out!
