Side Long Enchantment

I was dragged
Bruised and bloody
From the sea by the desert.
By the sun,
The same sun that he always called for
Like a suitor he doted on me
Praising my ugliness with gifts
Exalting me to a higher temple to waste away in
To be good,
To sit and be proud of,
Polish up and let him lean on me
I watched as my father sold me off to hatred and loneliness
I still haven't figured out why
Or understood,
But I have never understood love,
Or faith
Or all things that I should understand,
I just don't know
I can honestly say that I don't know.
