Dear Sir:

We are the last hope for our kind, The Z.A.L.I.N. Project. Commissioned by your hand, we are the ones our race has turned to in this time of crisis.

We know that you had hoped that we could save everyone. This is impossible. Our planet is far too large to practically place onto a fleet of ships. The mass panic that would ensue would soon consume the fleet and it would be no better if we stayed on Valkirion.

As it is, there are many planets out there, many dimensions. Some are hostile, some are not. We believe that we have devised a way to scout out which planets are friendly and which are not. The needed forms and notifications are enclosed.

We believe that if we genetically engineer some species of our own planets, and some from planets we have previously encountered, we can create scouts and spies, each one designed for a purpose.

However, we do not have enough people for this. We have enough scientists, physicists, geneticists, and time, but we lack in those who could train and care for these creatures.

We have selected two hundred juveniles (one hundred males and one hundred females) for this purpose on the basis of school records, academic achievements, and familial military background.

We believe these juveniles are young enough to be adaptable, old enough to understand the severity of our situation. Enclosed is a list of the names and reasons for why they have been selected.

We will notify them without alarming the public. As soon as you approve us, sir, the notifications will go out. A container with samples of genetic material will be sent to each Z.A.L.I.N. Juvenile, and upon contact, an exact match for that person will begin to grow inside of the container and should be born when it is time for the Juveniles to board the Valkyrie Freedom Fighter and seek out a new home.

We await your response.

A/N:

You know what? Those that think that us writers just play when we're writing make me sick. There are few jobs that require so much thought.

It annoys the heck out of me when I have a plotline forming and am stuck on just ONE STUPID ASPECT.

I have now got to decide between two things: do I create a new species, or do I recycle an old one?

It'll take me awhile to get the kinks out of a new one, but I don't want to grind an old species into the dust before I even get published.

-_- Plotbunnies are evil, filling my head with great story ideas but leaving key pieces out.

^_^ Z.A.L.I.N is an adaptation of one of my original ideas (so old it wasn't even supposed to be a story). It predates Amanarath Re!
