I went down to the golf course, hoping not to run into anybody.
Just because being alone is so much better sometimes.
The mountains in the distance faded off into smoky-purple shadows.
As I walked, the breeze whispered stories into my ear.
And the path ahead of me transformed,
Into a storybook, each step I took, a new page.
A new adventure.
At first a bitter-sweet romance.
He held in his arms, and told me he loved me.
He told me over and over again,
Until the bus came and took him away.
A new adventure.
Legend has it, every great night, returns, in spirit, as a great stallion.
Strong and sleek,
Graceful, and powerful.
I watched them soar, hooves barely touching the ground,
And with a tear, I knew that father was there.
A new adventure.
I opened my mouth, but the spotlight caught my eye.
Sweat poured down my temples, hundreds of expectant faces watching me.
I looked to the right, silently pleading for help.
And when she smiled at me, everything was going to be fine.
I opened my mouth and sang.
A new adventure.
I wanted to run, but my feet remained planed to the ground.
The beast slinked around rock and tree, agile and fluid.
It's golden eyes poured like rays of sunlight into mine.
It purred quietly, or was that a growl?
It's long tail flicked as the beast lowered its body ready to pounce.
I went down to the golf course, hoping not to run into anybody.
Just because being alone is so much better sometimes.
But I wasn't really alone, at all.
