Shining in the skies above
The stars of heaven make their home
Glowing warmth and perfect love
surround them, and they never roam.
But now and then, the jealous earth
will steal a diamond from the sky
The shining star comes crashing down
never knowing how or why.
Screaming through the atmosphere,
stung by winds it's never known,
landing on some lonely beach
the crippled star will lie alone.
Crying out in shock and fear
the star calls up to those it knew,
But alas, they cannot hear.
They fill its spot with someone new.
The icy waves of fear and doubt
wash up upon the sandy plain.
Stinging water strikes the star
A biting, unfamiliar pain.
And gasping in the freezing air,
the fading light looks up and cries
as, eyes upon its former home,
The fallen star grows cold and dies.
