After the fact

The next few days for Julie were nothing but a blur. The hospital that she was taken to by an elderly man, who was driving his car when he spotted her running for her life, was a blur. The kind doctors and nurses who did preformed the tasks after someone has been raped, that was a blur. Her parents faces when they learned what happened, Rick trying to look concerned, when she knew he was hiding the fact that he was disgusted with her, that was all another blur. The only thing that wasn't a blur was the hour that she spent with the man that raped her. Oh no, the kind things people did, the gentle tones, those were hazy, but being with him, was all much too clear for Julie to handle.

"Hey sweetheart, you look better today," Her overly cheerful mother said to her as she walked into her room. Julie knew that her mother's cheerful demeanor was only a façade, and she wish that she would stop. She wanted nothing more then for people to just say how they really felt, but Julie knew her mother was, and always will be the kind of person who would never think to tell someone hurting how they really felt. So Julie played along.

"Yea, I had a pretty good night sleep." Julie lied. Truth was, she was lucky to have gotten an hour, and even that hour was filled with terrifying nightmares that plaqued her mind.

"I wanted to talk to you about something, and I don't know how to exactly go about it. Um..last night that man that um..attacked you, was brought in, and indited. But see the problem is, he 's saying that you..and he..."

"Please just spit it out Mom." Julie almost begged. The news that that man was caught sent shivers down her spine. On one hand she was thrilled because he was going to be punished, on the other she knew that now she would have to face him in court.

"He's claiming that what the two of you did, was consentual. And that all of the bruises you received were a form of "four play" I think were his exact words. Julie, honey are you ok?" Her mother asked, alarmed because Julie looked as pale as a ghost.

" he did to me, no girl, no human on the face of this planet would consent to the things he did. I was raped Mother, I was beaten, and now to add salt to my already open wounds he's going to make people believe that I Iliked/I what he did to me? This cant be happening, one week ago I was happy, basically carefree, and now I have this man, this man who haunts me, ruining my good name? I must be going insane. This all has to be a dream, a nightmare. " Julie said before the sobbing overtook her small body. Her Mother just cradled her weeping, broken daughter in her arms. She knew what her and her husband had to do, and she was going to do it.

"Julie, me and your father are going to call every news channel, every radio program, and get your story out there. Were going to make the public see that you are innocent. Don't worry, he can't get to us this way." Her mother stood, and hugged her and left the room to call the news.

Julie didn't care anyway. She knew what she had to do, she had to get out of the house, out of her bed, and fix her broken life.
