An Angel

Lord, I pray for an angel

to take me under his wing tonight,

To keep me safe and warm

until morning shows its first light.

May my angel always follow me

wherever I should go,

And show me all the love and guidance

a good angel should show.

Please let my angel walk

beside me all day long,

Showing me the right path,

gently steering me away from the wrong.

Have him guard my tongue so closely

that it never tells a lie,

But only gives encouragement

and helps me do good in others’ lives.

May my angel be my shoulder,

always there when others aren’t,

And my backbone when I’m trying hard

to reach a dear friend’s heart.

Let him breathe a breath of calming air

over me when I get mad,

And let him remind me that I’m still all right

when things get really bad.

As I lie in bed each night,

let me know one thing for sure-

That Lord, you’re my protector

And you stop evil at my door.

I know my angel is more faithful,

and stronger than all men,

so it’s time I go to sleep-
