A student walked slowly into class
And sat solemnly upon his seat.
"Where's your homework?" the teacher asked,
Causing the student to turn as red as a beet.
"A huge whale ate it, I swear!"
The student desperately cried.
"I chased after it because I care.
You should be proud, I could have died!"
"Tell me the whole story,"
Said the teacher, thoroughly amused.
"I know each of your lies,
I do hope this one is new."
The student nodded and took a deep breath.
He gulped and began his strange tale.
"I did my homework outside next to my pool,
When suddenly appeared this giant whale!"
"It was larger than anything I've ever seen!
It was about half a mile wide,
It looked hungry and really mean!
It lunged for me but I stepped to the side!"
"It went for my homework instead,
Which made me really mad.
All that hard work for nothing,
So I kicked the whale with all the strength I had."
"My kick angered the whale,
And made it really furious.
It ate my homework and swam away
To where it went, I was really curious."
"All I could do was cry,
For you see, never did I see that whale again.
Now, teacher, you know I would not lie,
If you believe me, you'll know this is how it ends."
As the little boy ended his tale,
The teacher laughed and laughed.
"I'm sorry to say this, kid, but this year,
There's no way you passed."
