All she could see
Was a world in shades of grey
The majestic path that once stood before her
Now full of bends and corners
Befuddling, bewildering

Crystal ideals in shards
And memories but a mere ridicule
She searched desperately for a way out
But found none

Something flitters past
A bat's wing
In her mind, dark and cluttered
Full of unanswered queries
Obscures
Her vision, her train of thought

Lost in the wild
Unknowing, unsure
She was helpless

There was no one there
To pick her up
To hold her hand
Tell her
Everything would be all right

She was a child
Raised on dreams
A lifetime of content
Nothing more
It is never enough
