This is about my sister, who is in the Army. Right now she is only in
training, but this is about how it would feel if she ever was deployed,
which she might be this year.

She went off
To fight a war
That she wasn't even alive at the start of
Someone else caused it
Someone else fought it
Now she might die for it
It hardly seems fair
Why do the innocents have to die?
Civilians aren't the only innocents
Soldiers are innocent
They don't deserve this
Why must they fight?
Why must they die?
Why do good people suffer
For doing what is right?
I can't understand
Now matter how hard I try
I guess it doesn't make sense at all
To anyone
So now she's gone
To fight, to die
None of it her fault
But she's paying the price
Willingly, eagerly
She wants this so bad
She wants to fight, to defend and protect
She understands, her and her comrades
They understand why they're fighting
So I say good-bye, and watch her go
Knowing it might be the last time I see her
But knowing that it is worth it to her
Knowing that she would rather die
Than live apart from that world
And do nothing to help it
And deep down I know she's right
It's just so hard to let go
When you're best friend is leaving
And you don't know if she'll ever return
