The Sparrow

One lovely evening in Autumn's youth,
Amongst the trees of crimson and gold,
A wingëd friend did speak, bold, though mute,
And Unto me a wise lesson was told.
The sparrow- young, and full of vibrant life,
Looked back upon his dear summer home,
And with a song he did slay his strife,
And took brave flight into the unknown.
My heart cried as he left me behind,
Though wisdom whispered, "Life's wheel would turn",
And Spring's warm kindness he would again find,
The burning trees promised he would return.
"We all come home..the pendulum swings.."
To me the little sparrow still does sing.
