balloon man
handing out brightly colored
spheres of joy
that spread smiles
to anyone who has them
I watch as you give
blue
green
yellow
red
then suddenly
there are no more balloons to give
and you rise off the ground
free of everything
rising with the wind
sky
birds
I watch you
until you are nothing
more then
a speck
in the
distance
balloon man

A/N: I wrote this after my grandfather died. One of my earliest memories of
him was going to a balloon store buying big red balloons, then letting them
go and watching them until they disappeared. I usually don't write in free
verse but, it seemed to suit this.
