~Time's End~
Chapter 1:
Strife
~In the beginning, before life showed existence, an unmanageable force roamed the heavens, the stars and the galaxies, its name was Sarnaga. This Force had the power to do many things, miracles or curses, to do good or evil as it saw fit. The force had a rival, one like itself; they fought for eternity until the rival force had almost defeated its enemy. Before it could be concurred Sarnaga sent its power onto another, two humans that would protect the universe from the other power after the species of each galaxy had forgotten of the Great War. Forever.~
Five am brought a usual blood-like sunrise for Carmen; it had never been a trouble to get up, even if it was Saturday she would never sleep in or go to sleep early for that matter. For some reason it was important to her, to be awake when others were not, to be alone to think or to practice with her sword. Today however she woke, hauled on a pair of jeans and a black sleeveless top, grabbed her sword and left.
The sun shawn down on her red streaked hair. She reached her
destination, the Desonte River; it was her favorite place, it seemed to
have an eerie feeling about it, as if spirits surrounded the glistening
waters.
"Hi" Carmen whipped around to see a guy around seventeen or eighteen
sitting in a tall oak tree.
"Hi" she mumbled glancing away.
"Pretty isn't it" he referred to the lake, sparkling in the sun.
"Yes, it is" she tried to see into his eyes, to see what his
intentions were but they stayed blank.
"Hmm..." the guy looked off into the distance with his silver eyes
that fitted Carmen's identically "something's coming..." he whispered so
low Carmen couldn't hear. "DUCK!!!" he jumped down and pushed her off to
the side as a huge, blood red monster dug its claws into the ground where,
seconds ago she had stood. The creature was bald and had a human-like body;
it was faceless but had huge jaws, which held sharp, black teeth.
The guy took out a pair of sai that had a dark tigers eye in the
handle of each. The monster dove after him but missed, it had given him a
chance to strike, he took it slashing at the thing's skin viciously. The
monster tried again, this time striking his arm. "SHIT" the boy dropped his
weapons and concentrated.
'What is he doing?' A black light glowed within his fist; he opened it
revealing a shadow that shot at the monster hitting it in the side. The
creature cried in pain but lashed back shooting blood everywhere, Carmen
came to her senses 'HE'S GETTING KILLED! I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!' she
grabbed her sword and without thinking, started to strike, a bright light
emitted from the sword, surrounding the blade, making a glinting, sharp
edge. She sliced a clean cut right through the monster. It howled once and
fell in two halves, dead. She stared at it for a minute trying to figure
out what had happened then turned to the boy who was staring at her in
disbelief.
"Light..." was the only thing he said before she knelt down to check
his wounds.
"You okay?" She obviously hadn't noticed.
"Yeah.... OW!!"
"Sorry." He was covered in blood and his arm was smashed in. "Your
not ok you have to get to a hospital."
"NO!"
"WHY NOT?"
"How would I explain THAT?" he pointed to the bloody corps of the
monster that had given him the wounds.
"Oh yeah, well the least I can do is bandage you up. What's your name
anyway?"
"Strife Hakari, yours?"
"Carmen Koran." She put a hand next to his wound to see how bad it was
and jumped as a light surrounded her hand. She tried to pull away but her
hand seemed to be stuck to his chest. All the wounds lit up surrounding
him. Her other hand was pulled to his arm wound and she fell onto him not
being able to keep herself up. She looked into Strife's eyes frightened
only to find that he had the same look. All of a sudden the light went out
and the wound had been healed. She got up, stunned "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?
WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?" She defensively growled the words.
"I can't tell you now..."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?"
"Calm down."
"NO!... Ugh shit..." Carmen collapsed clutching her head. She fell to
the ground unconscious. She had used too much energy.
"Now what will I do?" He knelt down to pick her up. "May as well find
her some help, she drained herself" Strife mumbled as she nuzzled into his
chest.
'Where am I? Its so dark I can't see.' Carmen looked around the room
where she stood, surrounded in black. 'Mom? Toya? Strife? Anyone?' She
yelled the familiar names, hoping someone would hear the desperate calls.
She wiped at her quickly filling eyes.
'Don't cry.' A voice came out of the dark, it sounded like a child but
was soft and flowing.
'Why would I cry? Who are you?'
'You don't have to lie. You were about to. I won't tell you my name
but I have advice for you. If you can trust me.'
'That depends what the advice is.' Carmen didn't know if she should
trust the voice.
'My advice is, in all darkness become light. Your battles and choices
shall choose your fate. Stay true to your heart and have faith in others.
These virtues will lead the way.' The voice slowly stated each sentence
carefully.
'What is that supposed to mean?'
'You will find out soon enough...'
She woke up in a small, dimly lit room. It held little furniture and
had bare pine walls. The bed she lay on was comfortable except for her hand
that was strangely... 'Wet?' she looked down to where the hand lay.
"EEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!! STRIFE!! WAKE UP NOW!!!" Strife was sitting on a
chair asleep with his head on the bed. A pool of drool slipped from his
mouth and seeped into the blankets.
"Mmmmm... What?" He slowly opened his eyes still half asleep.
"You were DROOLING!!! That's grose!"
His gaze shifted to her eyes. "Sorry." He shifted upright in the seat
and wiped the drool from his mouth. "Are you okay? You fainted." He gave
her a worried look.
"Yeah I'm fine. Where are we?"
"At a healer's cabin. She said you only needed rest."
"How long have I been out?"
"About seven hours its 11:30"
"Oh shit I have to get home my moms gonna be looking for me!" Carmen
tried to get up but Strife caught her shoulder pushing her back down.
"You need to rest."
"No I need to see my mom."
" But you can't walk."
"How do you know? At least let me try."
"Fine." He let her up watching to see if she would fall. She never,
she was wobbly but could walk. "We'll get you a horse"
"Yeah that would be better."
The healer had given her a horse and she was on her way home. "So did
you think about telling me about what that was?" Strife walked alongside
the horse holding the reigns even though she knew how to ride.
"Okay I'll tell you if you want me to."
"Yes I do I want you to tell me... everything."
