My Final Hope
Rushed into the darkness,
thrown there with cold winds
howling around me,
the gentle drip of a leaky faucet
is maddening.
I am alone.
Yet I know there is still a chance
for me.
How long have I been here?
I've yet to been fed
hunger will soon begin to
gnaw me away.
But then,
He comes in,
light shines from where
he entered.
My heart races,
any hope
I once had
diminishes into the darkness.
He just looks at me,
just for a moment,
before he hangs his head in shame,
'What happened?'
he asked me
before he walked away,
a single tear dropped to the floor.
I'll never get to answer him.
It's tearing me up inside.
I only hope,
somewhere we'll meet again,
even just to say
"I love you."
