Grey Water

White winter comin’, I’m lookin’ for a place to stay
‘fore the big grey water come and wash my home away
Old Man River is gone away back to the coast
Snow on the rooftops and already I’m gettin’ lost

Darlin’, can you tell me, do you feel the hard North Wind?
To tell it on the mountain that the children of the sun have sinned
You can feel your skin crack, feel it when in chills your soul
Devil comin’ back when the mighty North Wind blows cold.

Come grey water
Come and swallow me whole (Won’t you swallow me whole)
Take me down water
Down where the grey clouds roll (Oh, where the grey clouds roll)

Grey swan is flyin’, nobody knows where she’s from
All they know is that somebody got to die when she come
Valley is dead now, the apples all withered and black
Land has gone dry ‘till the mighty grey rainstorm comes back.

Walkin’ the long road, down where the grey water lies
Cold wind blows hard now, trees are all black on the sky
Followed the Old Man, said he’d take me to the riverbed
Fell to my knees ‘cause the river was empty and dead.

Come grey water
Come and swallow me whole (Won’t you swallow me whole)
Take me down water
Down where the grey clouds roll (Oh, where the grey clouds roll)
