"Quinn? Quinn, are you alright?"

Groggily, she realized that she was awake, and lying on what uncomfortably felt like grass. Now how had she gotten outside?! "Ryan, you little brat!" She said, deciding that if she had to lay the blame on anyone, Ryan was the right choice.

"Ryan? Who's Ryan? Quinn... are you purposely being weird again?" the voice asked, sounding as if it was only feigning concern.

Quinn's eyes snapped open. A guy- A GUY- was leaning over her, smirking. Smirking? Quinn despised it when people smirked- especially boys.

She sat up, and glared at him. "Where the heck am I?!" She demanded, mildly please to discover that when sitting, she was an inch or two taller than him.

He blinked at her, and his smirk was replaced with a large smile. "I see! Master Allan warned me about this. Quinn, stand up."

"Don't boss me around, turd!" She snapped, jumping to her feet and staring down at him, willing him to be intimidated.

Her willing didn't work. He merely stood up as well, and grinned. "Ah, see, now you're back to normal. So, tell me Quinn, exactly WHY were you lying around out here?"

"Mind your own business!" Quinn snapped, mainly to hide the fact that she was almost too rattled to comprehend what was going on. What WAS going on anyway? Where was she- and who was the weird short guy?

"Quinn, Master Allan was hoping that his prize student would be nicer," the boy said, chuckling. "He's says that all Healers must be calm, collected-"

"-and kind," Quinn finished, glowering moodily. It was something her aunt said all the time, and it drove her insane.

"And you, m'dear, and neither calm- you yell at me and slap me- nor are you collected- you freak out and burst into hysterics all the time- and lastly, you're hardly kind," he said, waving a finger.

"Heh. To YOU, maybe. Everyone else agrees that I'm a very lovable person," Quinn stated, suddenly feeling the need to defend herself.

"Lovable? Quinn, you might be lovable, but that hardly means that you're nice," the boy objected, jumping over a small log as he lead the way down hill.

Quinn sighed. Deciding that this really wasn't worth arguing about, she asked, "so, who are you anyway?"

He glanced at her, momentarily surprised, before covering it up with a grin.

"Amnesia?" He wondered.

"No." Quinn paused. "No. I remember something else- but not you."

"Really?" His eyebrows rose, and he turned around, still walking, to grin foolishly at her. "Well then! Well, well then!" He chuckled, and Quinn scowled at him.

"What's so funny?!" She demanded, crossing her arms.

"I am your lover, Quinn. My name is Jack-" he began.

"YOU LITTLE LIAR!" Quinn screamed, laughing as she gave him a proper dope slap. "How about the TRUTH."

He frowned at her, and muttered, "you certainly act like the old Quinn!"

"And you act like my little brother. So, what's your name?"

"Jarran Kileson, Master Allan's assistant Healer. One day, I'll be your assistant healer," he added, seeing Quinn's blank look. "I've been bothering you ever since Master Allan decided to choose you as the next Head Healer, because really, you don't really seem like a healer."

"Yeah... I hate blood," Quinn said, frowning. "Why'd he choose me then?"

"Well, you've got the powers, you see. You're a fast healer, but everyone thinks that you'd be better off as a Mage."

Ah. A mage. Quinn frowned, and realized that this was just like one of her mom's stories- kids got transported into other worlds in them ALL the time. Plus, these other worlds never failed to not have magic. MAGIC! God- and she had been stuck with HEALING. Just great. GREAT.

Hmm... WOW. Eh... yeah. I'm afraid this story will have to go on hiatus... I was sitting around one day, typing it, and suddenly I stopped and decided that I was bored with it... annoying little writing habits. So... alas... *blinks* eh!
