I LOST MY FAITH IN LOVE
by distantorigin

I don't see the point anymore

Of roses and stuffed bears
Of gold earrings in pairs
Of diamond rings and lockets
Of beach houses and private jets
Of cupids and of hearts
Of chocolates and sweet tarts
Of cakes and round balloons
Of rich and powerful tycoons

I don't see the point anymore

Of dancing in the moonlight
Of holding each others' hands tight
Of watching sunsets by the sea
Of picnics beneath a tree
Of long hours on the telephone
Of sharing one ice cream cone
Of love story fanatics
Of dreamy hopeless romantics

I just don't see the point anymore

Don't all these things lead to hate?
To knocking on misery's gate
To heartbreak and to tears
To paranoia and strange fears
To teen pregnancies and abortion
To STD's and over-population
To separation and divorce
So why open love's mysterious doors?

If after all the cheerful smiles
Awaits remorse of a hundred miles
What would be the point of love, then?
It's what makes problems worsen.
