Re: The Island

Mr. President,

Today I visited the site of where it all began. What once was a peaceful island off of the state is now a wasteland. It looks like something you would see in a horror movie, or a war movie. I guess you could call this our own little Yugoslavia.

So we drove through the island. The bridge has been destroyed, we took a ferry across. We drove through it and in the beginning we noticed nothing out of the ordinary, but as we continued we came across a hotel. An older hotel by the looks of it. It was still standing. In the doorway of the hotel was a young boy. He was sitting down on the stairs. We stopped and picked the boy up, gave him some water, and we took him with us. We decided that we would take him for some tests and maybe find some answers as to what happened down there.

Sir, what I am asking for here is some answers. I believe that the only way we will get these answers is if we send military forces into the island, and do some on site research. Please Mr. President, we are in dire need of some answers. Without answers it could mean the fate of the country, maybe even the world.

Mr. Gamble,

The child that you speak of may be a danger to our society, Mr. Gamble. I am giving you a direct order to escort him to a hospital and out of your custody.

As for the permission to send military forces into the island. Your permission is denied. As far as we know everybody has already been evacuated, or have since died. If you wish, you may assemble a team to help lock down the island completely and move to quarantine it.

During our time on the island, me and my team have discovered something interesting. Most of the buildings that remain up have hatches in the basements. We are asking you for permission to open these hatches and go in. We here on the island are hoping that these hatches will hold the answers that you are looking for.

Mr. Nash,

Mr. President, half a hour ago I got a phone call from the Chicago Regional Hospital. That is the hospital where the child that I rescued is now in. Apparently people have been dying. It does not look like the child is sick though. It may be a problem with the ventilation systems.

I am taking a jet as we speak and going back to Chicago to check on the boy.

Residents of the, United States of America,

Mr. President, Mr. Gamble, and the rest of the USA who is reading this.

Earlier this morning we opened what seemed to be secret hatches in the basements of selected buildings. What we found could only be described as a massacre. The other members of my team said the people we found died of starvation, but I know the difference of dying on the inside and being stabbed to death, or even eaten in a couple cases.

All of these hatches are linked by stone corridors underneath street level. I am wondering how these got here. They do not seem to be a sewer system. Maybe the people here knew what was going to happen. They are not white people or black. They look Greek by my eyes. Maybe it is a superstition that something was going to happen, and it did.

I had to get out of the ground so I moved above. I need to get out of here. I need to get back home. The others are alive, but...just barely. They will not come back up. Please evacuate us.
