Sunrise By The Lake
The sun is just beginning to rise
The birds are just beginning to wake
Barefoot I walk down the stone steps
Resting for a moment beside the lake
The cool waters flow between my toes
The sun climbs higher in the sky
I feel its warmth upon my back
And I spot a fish swimming nearby
The lake is as smooth as glass
So I toss in a small stone
The water ripples, annoyed by this disturbance
And the fish swims off towards home
