Thief

Will you welcome me home?

I don't know where we stand

or if we even can anymore

I don't know you and you

don't know me

we live different lives

so separate that there's no way

to reconcile the people we knew

with the people we've become

and I feel like I should mourn

The person I fell in love with

left me a long time ago

and I've found myself clutching

at shadows and vague dreams

that disappear when you laugh

at someone else's jokes

I don't own even an inch of you anymore

and someone else

unknowingly holds your heart

.... my hands are empty

A/N: Morrissey once sang “I know it’s over-still I cling-I don’t know where else I can go...” and that is an adequate explanation for this poem. Please excuse my angsting.
