Captured Memory

by fabian cortez

_

No rose in bloom

Nor nightingale song

Could compare to you

As you walked a sandy

Pebbled distant path

In sunlit silhouette

Toward me

_

Ocean's claws so

Undulating cool a radiant

Day to burden's ease

Now captured in an

Instant is your vista so

Enter observation's

Exhilarated prospect

In remembrance

_

How clumsily I fumbled

Conversation of words

So foolish yet to

Trip my heart

For visage not enough

To capture bachelor

In essence for truth

In spirit's sight

Imprisoned me

_

Oh image to my mind

Still fills this frame

Love to last eternity

Of sadness to your loss

Partnered twice in embrace

Then bonded but a month

Golden trinket surround

A digit whose mirror is

No more

_

So taken by a swim at dusk

I slept through your

Soul's migration

Your robe & photo stay

With me so memories

Never fade away

As I long for peace

Of eternal sleep to be

With you
