Chapter Three

"She better not be long, I want to know what’s in store for us once we finish cleaning this place up." Kathy said to herself

She walked into the dinning room to find more alcohol and a grand table that at least was long enough to fit a big company of guests. There were two huge windows that went from the ceiling to the floor, with curtains covering them. It was a spacious place to live in once cleaned.

"We should have that party I don’t see why we shouldn't. I mean I’m sure local historians or other ones would have a field day with all these antiques that are in here. I wonder what the kitchen looks like." Kathy said out loud

She opens a swinging door that was in the dinning room to find that it was the kitchen. Average kitchen I guess you could say here was a fire pit for cooking as well as a stove to use. A small table that at least fit two to four people at it. There were many storage things as well as an old fridge that some one installed into this place along with the electricity too.

"Not bad, though I’m not a master chief in cooking, but fairly good I might have to add." Kathy said

Kathy walked around the kitchen examining everything and anything that needs to be replaced. She walked out of the kitchen and went into this added hall that didn’t connect to the actual hallway. It was like an added on or secret hall for certain people to know about.

“This is so cool! It’s like a hallway but then it’s not. Wait, that doesn’t make any sense.” Kathy said shaking her head at what she did.

Kathy walked down the hall and opened the first door on her left only to find that it was a stacked with boxes that went close to the ceiling. In the middle of the room there was a table with a lantern on it.

“Well, I wonder what’s in these boxes.” Kathy said as she walked into the room and lit the lantern only to find.

“Kathy? Kat if that’s you, you’re really freaking me out here.” Jenna said as she called from the dinning room

Jenna walked around the dinning room trying to figure out what was going on and why Kathy wasn’t close by. She walked into the kitchen to find it empty as well she walked all the way to find a door at the one side and saw that it was opened.

“Kat, are you down there!” Jenna called

Jenna stood there trying to debate if Kathy would go down there or not or if she was messing with her. The hall was dark and mysterious in a way and it didn’t seem safe. Just as she was about to go down into that hallway, a hand came and touched her shoulder making her scream and bounce away from the person.

“Don’t do that.” Jenna said

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scary you. Trust me you don’t want to go down there.” Kat said

“Where did you go? I couldn’t find you. I heard you calling me but I couldn’t find you.” Jenna said

“I was looking in the rooms. I didn’t call you. You must of hearing things.” Kat said

“What’s in that hallway? What possessed you to go down there anyway?” Jenna asked

“Too much.” Kat said

They both sat down on the old chairs that were in the room that were against the wall out of walk way. Kat was covered in dust and looked dirty and Jenna was confused about the whole thing. She didn’t get it.

“What’s down there?” Jenna asked.

“Well the first door I went into I thought was storage. Turns out that it was boxes of things they use on the slaves. Jenna I don’t think this was any other home. I think this one owned slaves, do u know what that means.” Kat said

“What do you do mean stuff, what stuff?” Jenna said

“You know they used on them, putting those things on their heads so they can’t get away, the brandying things, whips. Need I go on?” Kat said

“Are you serious? This isn’t good. I think I get now why they didn’t want to talk about the house. Something happened hear and it wasn’t pleasant.” Jenna said putting her head to her hands in frustration.

“Well, that’s the only room I’ve checked. I don’t know what else is in that hallway, and truefully I’m not sure I want to.” Kat said

“Come on, lets get to town and at least get that done.” Jenna said as she got up.

“All right, let’s go.” Kat said agreeing with her.

They walked out of the kitchen and out in the hallway. Kathy went to fix herself up and Jenna waited out side the room. They got into their car and went into town looking for the library to go research on the house.

“Kat, do you thing it’ll get worse as were cleaning?” Jenna said

“I don’t know. Who knows, lets hope it doesn’t.” Kathy said

They found the Library quite easily since it was a small town and many people had left. They walked into the library and went up to the main desk.

“Excuses me, I was wonder where you keep your files on houses here in town?” Jenna said

The Librarian looked up at them and studied them for a moment before she answered them.

“We keep them in the back. Here, let me show you to them.” The Librarian said getting up and walking away

Jenna and Kathy looked at each other questioning why the librarian looked at them the way she did before they followed her to a room.

“Over there you should find the files. If need any help just ask me or someone else that works here, they’ll help you out.” The Librarian said before leaving the alone.

When the Librarian left Kat and Jenna looked around at all filling cabinets that was put against the wall and in the middle of the room was a small table w/ two chairs on each side.

“Right, where do we start?” Kathy said

“Um let’s start back to a few years from now and then work our way back to when it was built.” Jenna suggested.

“All right” Kathy said

They spent who knows how long in that room trying to find stuff on the house they just bought and were now cleaning it out. They weren’t sure what they would find but they hoped when they did. It would be good things and not anything they thought would be there. Especially after they found those boxes of whips and stuff in the one room.
