Dedicated to my family who are my friends and my friends who are my family,
for always being there. Also dedicated to any future children I might have. God bless their poor
souls. Just kidding.

It's my fault, really. You can say I was moronic enough to do it, or they were stupid enough to dare me to. Either way, it was dumb. All because of a stupid dare.
But the end justifies the means, right? I guess I'll never understand fate - destiny, karma, whatever - because it led us here. I wonder, even if I hadn't taken the dare, would everything have turned out the same? Probably. After all, it had to happen one way or another. Everything had been set up for it.
Because this is our story - my story.
You see, my father is an archeologist. He calls it his profession, I call it his obsession, and my step-mom calls it his mistress. He wants me to follow in his footsteps, become an 'explorer in time' like him. Yeah. Thanks pop. I couldn't care less about what had happened in the past. Well, I guess that's not true. Because I did wonder about my own past. But never really deeply.
Anyways. My dad drags me out on his digs with him sometimes. Some might find it cool, and those people have watched too much Jurassic Park. It's boring out on a dig. There's really nothing to do unless you really love it. Example: my dad.
So this time I begged him to let me bring along some friends because it was a local dig and we wouldn't have to pay for the plane tickets. He said sure, why not. So I invited my two best friends - Matt and Logan. But a problem came up and Melody, Matt's twin sister, had to come along too. We're friends too, so it was no big deal.
So the four of us went to the dig, where everything was put into motion by a game of truth or dare.
