SMILE

Hidden like the marrow
In a bone still clothed
Lived desception in a smile

Sardonic in its courtesy
And soaked in mirrored wants
A victim's projection

Of bared secret
First extracted by the smile
From flesh owned by hostile method

Mocked contentness is a straw
For hidden vampires
Walking graceful among us

Draining gold external lifeblood
And the internal of the heart
Duped with boldness of a thief

That smile can shovel aside
Both pride and independence
To a pile into a hole twofold deep

The keys for which are given back
Like so much garbage
They can open doors for only one

But finding courage to defeat
The sense of loss
Eaten whole and difficult to process
