"What's happening now?" He asked. Paul didn't look up from the monitor in front of him. "He's left the facility." Paul grabbed a printout that had just come out and glanced over it. "His vitals are up significantly and brain activity is increasing, if I had to guess it's almost like he's happy or maybe hopeful at least."
Avershaid turned back to stare through the glass. "Then the system has finally regained control." Paul wheeled over to another monitor and brought up a status window. "No" he said "Aaron still has control of the Holo- System."
Avershaid frowned. It didn't make any sense; the program they designed should have worked flawlessly. The Holo-System was used on coma patients to simulate a near perfect world for them to live in, but somehow Aaron had compromised it and changed it into a macabre caricature of the hospital he was in. No one knew how it had happened or why Aaron had done that. They didn't even know if Aaron had any idea that he himself was in control of his world.
Now Aaron had escaped from the hospital and his mind was more alert, more alive, than it had been in even while he was in the Eden-like world. Avershaid shook his head; the mind was as much a mystery now as it was a hundred years ago. Whatever had happened, he hoped Aaron was happy.
