Detox

Feel the needle
Pierce the vein
Empty me into your bloodstream
Feel the rush that, sure as always,
Accompanies the high I provide
Take me, use me,
Mix our medicines to cure our poisons
Let the labels yell at someone else
For we care not for their warnings
"Can be addictive,
Use in moderation"
Those are not meant for us.
We're different from the other pill-poppers
They need the fix.
We can quit anytime we want.
Go ahead, take me in
Let us trip on each other's warming buzz
It can't hurt us, it's only love.
But what if one day you reach for my vial
And I'm not there?
What can we do now,
You without your trusty dealer,
Me without a user to fill.
Withdrawl is the hardest part
Of any relationship.
