Medieval Knight

I stand alone looking across the countryside
Watching the many Knights go passing by.
On their way to do some noble deed.
To fight for a lady,
To uphold their kingdom's creed.

My aquamarine dress flutters in the wing
As I bid my knight farewell.
Hoping. Praying- that he returns safely.

This one Knight is the best of them all.
Strong, tall, and true-
Making me swell with pride.
Knowing he belongs to me
Knowing I can be by his side.

Atop his horse, he rides over the drawbridge
Before turning once more to look at me
With his blue eyes.
His penetrating, loving gaze staring from
Beneath the silver shine of his armor
Finds my heart soaring to the skies.

I fear for him. I fear for his life.
I fear that one day
He might never return from yonder strife.

The consolation that I have
Is I know he cares for me so.
No matter what happens
His love will always go with me
-His "lady fair."
