A question as old as time itself
asked among many
only answered by some....
"If today was your last
what would you do?"
Many answer many things,
All lies of course.
Because sometime you don't have time..
Like the many others that have gone before you.
When you leave,
what would you be doing?
Tying your shoe when the sniper fires?
Learning algebraic expressions when the bomb blows?
Sleeping when the killer stabs you?
You never know..and you never will know.
Even more important,
What would you be thinking?
Going over your grocery list mentally?
Trying to figure out what's for dinner?
Did you feed Bubbles, your fish, this morning?
Would these be your last thoughts of existence?
Not praying or begging for mercy in the eyes of God
for the forgiveness of your sins like you said,
But these?
As I said you never know..and you never will know.
As you read, your probably thinking when and what,
so I might as well name them all.
Like Who?
Who will be there at your end?
The mailman?
Your crazy neighbor?
That lady across the street?
Nobody?
You never know..and you never will know.
Who will witness your dead?
The trees?
Your dog?
Your dreams?
Your sister's boyfriend?
You never know..and you never will know.
Who killed you?
A person you never even saw?
Nothing?
Your ex-best friend that wanted your skateboard?
Nobody?
You never know..and you never will know.
Where will you be when you die?
The checkout line in the QT?
School?
Your own bed?
Where would you be?
You never know..and you never will know.
The last an most important question,
out of my questionaire.
Why?
Why would you be removed from life?
Was it because you were Christian or Muslim?
Was it because you were African or Arabic?
Was it because you were a man or woman?
Was it because you were wearing a blue shirt on Tuesday?
You never know..and you never will know.
So stop making false promises.
You never know when.
You never know where.
You never know how.
You never know who.
You never know what.
You never know why.
So when they ask,
that age old question,
"If today was your last
what would you do?"
Answer the even older
and truthful response
" I don't know."
