Dangers of Eating Meat and Animal Products

There are many dangers of eating meat. When eating meat, you consume antibiotics, saturated fat, cholesterol and steroids. In fact, the animals that you eat consume 55% of all antibiotics consumed in the United States. If you don't know, antibiotics are used to treat infection. If you think about it, that really is disgusting.
Meat eaters are more likely to get cancer. They're also more likely to have heart attacks because they ingest dangerous amounts of unneeded cholesterol. American meat is so horrid that Europe banned the importation of U.S. meats. That's just great.
One acre of land can produce 40,000 pounds of potatoes, but only 250 pounds of beef. In fact, 660,000 animals are killed every hour, yes hour, in the United States.
Slaughterhouses are horrible places. Up to three times a day, female cows have electric machines hooked up to their udders. These machines take the milk, which is meant for a baby cow, not for you to drink. Their udders are injured, swollen, cut and infected. One common udder infection is mastitis. It's extremely painful to the cow. You know what ended up in your milk? Pus, antibiotics, scabs, blood and hormones. That's just disgusting.
Every year, the female cow has to have a baby. This is the only way she can produce milk. The babies are taken from their mother's soon after birth. When the baby is taken, the mother cries for days, which proves even more that animals have emotions.
Male calves are often used for veal. The chained in narrow stalls and they can barely move. This is how veal is supposed to be. The cattle are branded. Their horns and testicles are cut off with no painkillers.
Chickens and turkeys are kept in dirty, overcrowded sheds. Hens are packed in cages so tightly that they can't move. Their beaks are cut off and they live on painful wires. The chickens and turkeys grow so big, so fast, that they can't walk. In fact, sometimes their legs break out from under them.
The tails are cut off of baby pigs. Males pigs, like male cows, also have their testicles cut off with no painkillers. They live in crowded pens with concrete floor. Their teeth are cut in half too. Then they're slaughtered to make pork, bacon and ham.
It's not uncommon for animals to arrive at the slaughterhouse with broken bones and other injuries. Although the animals are supposed to be rendered unconscious before they are killed. Usually, they aren't. They're hit on the head once or twice, which doesn't normally knock them out. Then they're chained by there feet to a conveyer belt. Once moving, they are stabbed in the neck and they bleed to death. Often times they scream in terror as this is going on.
There are ways to save these animals. Become a vegan, which means that you don't eat any animal products, including eggs and dairy, and you don't use any, like wool or mohair. It may seem hard, but to be quite honest, it's very easy.
If it seems hard, just think of it this way. If you eat meat, you're acne will be worse. Thirty-three percent of meat eating teens are obese. Only two percent of vegan teens are obese. Meat eaters also have more sinus problems.
There are many alternatives to eating meat. There are veggie burgers, which are marketed under Boka. Smart Beat makes veggie hotdogs and soy cheese. Soymilk, made by companies like Eden and Silk, come in chocolate, plain and vanilla flavors. There are even vegan Jell-O's made by the company, Hain's Super Fruits. Instead of butter, use margarine, corn oil, or vegetable oil. Tofu can be eaten with just about anything and is considered very healthy. Add Duncan Hine's cake mix and your favorite pop/ soda together and you'll have a cake. For ice cream, you can use soy or tofutti.
Being a vegan isn't hard. I can't believe that I used to drink milk or eat products with eggs. In fact, I find it hard to believe that 3 years ago I ate meat. Of all things I've attempted, this has been one of the easiest.
