Through the garden she ran
Over hills, over streams!
Through shooting stars and moonbeams
She was in love, she.
Out of the garden she flew
Across the sky, over Mars
Through clouds and fading stars
She was broken-hearted, she.
Through the desert she crawled
Over dunes and sandtraps
On top of dried rivers and crawling ants
She was full of hate, she.
Until at last she felt a dark feather, grace her cheek.
She looked up and felt so meek
For the face of an angel, a demon glared down at her
And made her rise to her feet to realize who she was,
The mother of the evil to be, his unholy love
Grand Lilitu, the blackened dove.
