Chapter 1; Mysterious
“Rebecca! Come on, we are going to be late for the movie,” Railyn yelled as at her older sister. After getting no answer she turned and walked outside and sat in the car. Even though Railyn was nineteen, she was still driven around by her twenty-four year old sister.
“Railyn, don’t you dare honk that horn,” Rebecca said as she walked out the front door just to see Railyn reaching over to honk the horn.
“Then hurry up,” Railyn said.
“The movie is not going to start for another hour. Relax,” Rebecca commented as she slid into the car and started it up. “Why do you want to be there an hour early anyways?”
“I want to get good seats,” Railyn said.
“Doubt that, but it is none of my business,” Rebecca sighed.
The rest of the drive was made in silence; and Rebecca preferred it that way. A time to relax and calm down. They reached the movie theater at seven o’clock; the sun had already set, leaving the sky speckled with the few clouds that were in the air.
They walked to the ticket counter and bought two tickets for the newest vampire movie. As they headed into the theater Rebecca caught a glimpse of a group of girls talking about a guy that was there. She just grinned and walked into the theater. She remembered when she was still in her teens; any good looking guy was worth talking about.
“Why are you smiling?” Railyn asked Rebecca.
“Just thinking how silly I was about boys when I was your age,” Rebecca grinned even wider.
“Sit down and watch the movie,” Railyn ordered, smiling. Rebecca did as she was told still grinning.
The movie came to a close and everyone walked out of the theater. As Railyn headed for the bathroom, Rebecca headed to the movie posters; trying to see which other movie might be out that will catch her attention. Soon Railyn walked out of the restroom smiling.
“What are you smiling about?” Rebecca asked as she moved out the glass doors and into the chilly September air.
“You know the group of girls that were talking outside the theater?” Railyn asked and Rebecca nodded “Well, they described the guy, and he is staring at you.”
Rebecca, knowing her sister was a kidder knew she was joking. She saw the group of girls walk out of the restroom before Railyn walked in it. She just shook her head and continued to walk.
On their way to the car they saw someone selling roses from a cart. The two sisters stopped to smell them. Rebecca pointed to a batch that was a deep red, more of a blood color.
“Are these not beautiful, Railyn?” She asked.
Railyn just looked at her sister and sighed.
“You just like them because of the color,” Railyn said.
“And to me, they are mysterious,” Rebecca commented.
“You and the mysterious things,” Railyn walked away and towards the car.
Rebecca slowly turned and followed Railyn. But she turned too quickly. If she even just looked back she would have noticed a dark figure staring at her. The figure slowly walked towards the person selling the roses and got the dozen that Rebecca was looking at. He let his eyes follow the car until it was out of sight. Then he too, started walking home, well, more like gliding.
