~ epilogue ~

When I awoke the sky was still dark. The fires were burning out, but the smoke lingered in the air creating a fog. The city looked like the fallout after a bomb. There was death and destruction everywhere I looked. It was awful. Kaori was lying on the ground. She was moving, but barely. Thank God she was okay. I don't know how she'll deal with the outcome, but at least she was alive. She screamed out, desperate to understand how something like this could have happened. I wanted to help her, I wanted to give her the answers she needed to hear, but I didn't know how. I had never seen anything like that before in my life and to be honest, I was a little scared.

"And that's what you remember? What happened next?"

"I don't know, everything is kind of a blur until I woke up one day and I was here."

"So where is she now? Kaori, I mean."

"I don't know, that's why I have to get out of here. I have to find her."

"Why hasn't she come to see you?"

"They must have stopped her."

"The angels?"

"Yes, the angels. They wanted her to go back. I know she would find me if she could. Please, you have to let me go, before everyone forgets about her."

"Because the angels erase memories."

"Right."

"So why weren't your memories erased?"

"I don't know, that's why I have to leave, I have to get answers."

The man in the white lab coat got up from the chair he placed by my bed. "I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today, but I'll see you tomorrow and we'll continue this conversation."

"No, wait." How did I get here? Why wouldn't they let me go? Everyday we talked about the same thing. They always wanted to know about Kaori, or more importantly, why I thought she was an angel. I don't know why it was so hard for them to understand; they kept trying to convince me it was a dream, but I know all too well that it's not. "You have to believe me."

"We'll talk tomorrow."

"Please, just listen, I'm not crazy."

Author's Note: I've never finished a story before, so I'm a little nervous about how it all turned out. I bet you weren't expecting that ending though.. Is he crazy and it's all made up? Did it really happen? Who knows, I don't even really know. I did think up a sequel though, so maybe one day I'll write it, if I think the story really needs telling.

Thanks to everyone who read and reviewed. Yay, it made me so happy ^o^ I hope you will all read my other stories as well, if you aren't already, and as always, any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

~ Katie ~
