Rest, My Child

When you read this, think of someone older and wiser than you saying these words to you. It's supposed to be kind of soothing and comforting, but it probably isn't!

Rest, My Child

Dream on sweet child,
Brush away those tears,
Lie down and rest,
Rest for a while.

When the lazy clouds
float through the blue
of the sky,
Don't move, child,
Rest some more,
Rest some more.

Shut your eyes tightly,
Dream yourself away,
Fight those nightmarish feelings,
Make them disappear.

Gain back your pride, my child.

Lift your tired head
and fight the good fight.

Believe that you can do it,
Believe that you will win,
And child, when you have the confidence,
You can do anything,
Anything.

Even dream.
